I''ve been told to add Veret and Ycloskey to the lists of villages that have joined Venice under water. Any other surrounding cities that are gone? I hope the idiots who made Mr.Go and the fishing canals take a LONG look at the problems they have caused. Alot of this damage could have been prevented. Is there anyway the wetlands that are still left can be saved?

It sounds like you are pretty familar with Louisiana. If you know about the big bridge in Empire Louisiana on Hwy 23 its gone along with all the land South of that. I saw that with my own eyes in a chopper doing inspections for my company I work for in the Gulf of Mexico. I will load the pictures at this site as soon as I get them back.

La

Lived in Baton Rouge for 7 years. LSU grad. Have friends in the New Orleans area from Mandeville to Marrero and from Destrahan to St.Bernard, so the was my second home while I was down there. I guess that picture of me saying I am at the southern most point of Louisiana in Venice is worth alot now. While being a native of Illinois, I consider Louisiana to be my adopted home state. Many of my successes in life have happened their with many friendships made. With one of the knowledgeable posters saying the coast has been pushed up 30 miles inland, parts of St.Bernard under water possibly for good, and Lake Borgne getting bigger, The Army Corps of Engineers has alot of work to do to protect the New Orleans area. Wetlands can't be created overnight. Levees neither. Perhaps surrender some land to the sea, other parts back to the protective marshlands, and stop the new orleans politicians from taking money from levee production. This was a very hard lesson for SE louisiana to learn.
