Looks like this will be a classic contest between the two rivals..

Beasley turned ankle a minute in, but looks like he'll be fine though. He looks like he'll be tough to handle on the left side.. too much speed for the mexican midfield.

Eddie Lewis getting another start at left back, hopefully he has no lapses.

America doing most of the attacking at this point but no real great chances in the first 15 minutes.

Im on the USA to win @ 2.10

30 minute mark.

Mexico coming to life a little bit, missed a great chance for a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, but the first touch failed Nelson.

Two yellow cards handed out, one on Reyna for US.. one just given to Maquez for Mexico for two blatant hacks on Beasely.

Physical game, not much flow either way.. come on US!

Halftime..

Only one real chance in the first half, came right at the end of the half.

Free kick taken from 23 yards out for Mexico, well placed on goal Keller dies to his right and saves low.

Ref with some questionable calls/decisions in this one so far, pretty inconsistent.

One mistake or bad call one way or the other will decide this one.

Go US!:suomi:

This can't be going over well south of the border.

I went to the World Cup in Chicago years ago, and have a lot of reasons to visit Europe. I may have to do this, but $800 in airfare can get you to a hell of a lot of places.

Thanks 20five, great news for US soccer program.

wil.

This team is the best in the region when healthy. No reason to fear Mexico or anyone else, the team is truly getting closer to be a world power. No one will accept this and many around the world laugh at the idea, but whatever its a clear fact. Nothing against Mexico either, they are stepping up to be near the top of the world stage too.

The Federation set the goal to win a World Cup by 2010 almost 20 years ago. Seemed ridiculous then, but given some breaks it wouldn't be a total shocker.

Good point but I disagree and agree.

Disagree: Player for player, they are not that good - the best player on the US team (Donovan) can't even make an average club in Germany. Other countries have "dream teams" in soccer, but they are all like the "dream team" we have here in basketball - they look good on paper but not as a TEAM.

AGREE: If the US is the Patriots, England is the Colts. As a TEAM, the US soccer TEAM is great and I really think they can win the World Cup in the next 20 years if they keep developing.

FIFA has them ranked 6th in the world, by the way.
