As The Government Slowly Trickles in Support, Nine.com Joins the Rescue

in Costa Rica has responded to those affected by Hurricane Katrina with
a very generous donation of two tractor trailer truckloads of relief
supplies including bottled water, blankets, diapers, and additional
nutritional food items which are expected to arrive at the Houston Astrodome
Saturday afternoon.
Nine.com has a sincere interest in the people of New Orleans and their
recovery since they were sponsoring the Voodoo Music Festival which was
to be held in City Park in New Orleans over Halloween weekend. “We
chose to sponsor the Voodoo Music Festival because we love the city, the
event itself, and what New Orleans stands for and were very excited to
be involved in this great event” stated Nine.com spokesperson Jack
Abrams. "We have many clients, friends and fellow Costa Rican people whose
families have been displaced by this tragic event........ so this is
the least we could do" Abrams added "We want New Orleans back to its
glory as soon as possible".
“Our first attempt to help was to send a cargo plane full of fruits to
the families in need from our home in Costa Rica immediately after the
hurricane hit, but unfortunately we ran into red tape issues with the
US powers to be which we will decline to discuss for now” stated Abrams
"so we took matters into our own hands". With the help of Marcie
Cardell of MAC Presents of Nashville, John Allen manager of Costco in
Arlington Texas , Jason Wright of Clear Channel Communications, Nashville
office, RE West Trucking, also of Nashville and the management of the
Astrodome itself , who all sacrificed either their time or assets, we were
able to put together the Nine.com relief effort literally within
hours”."We now question how the US federal government could not move as
fast." Abrams goes on to say. "We literally were able to purchase truckloads
of available supplies from A Dallas Costco just by calling from our
home base in Costa Rica and were able to deliver them within 12 hour!
s". Executives from Nine.com flew to Houston early Saturday morning to
meet the trucks and deliver the supplies.
Watching these tragic events unfold on CNN in Costa Rica, it appears
something in the US government is broken and needs to be fixed
immediately" Abrams goes on to say "Our fellow Americans deserve to be cared for
immediately and effectively by their respective governments when a
disaster of this magnitude hits...... whether it's Central or North America
or even South America..... We are all considered Americans ...... many
North Americans don't realize that but Costa Rica was discovered by
Christopher Columbus also and we will do our part to help our fellow
