What's wrong with this picture: White Sox +145 vs. Tubby Schilling

CWS +145 over Bos
McCarthy/Schilling

Boston has won 8 out of their last 10 at home. So why am I going against them in this game? The White Sox won their last 4. The big reason I am going with the Sox here is because of Schilling. He has allowed 5-3-6-6-5 earned runs in his last 5 starts.

While McCarthy hasn't been exactly stellar for the White Sox, they have supported him leading to 4 consecutive wins.

McCarthy was recalled from the minors last week. He changed his delivery slightly, and dominated the Rangers down in Texas.

maybe the over might be a better play than taking a side? I see the value on the White sox getting the cash, but backing your wager with a rookie starter vs. BoSox bats in fenway is risky thing?

the only thing to worry about is CWS has stated MANY times they would have rather forfeited this game then go to "Baaahhhhsttaaahhhn" and play the game so now you have a motivated fave against a VERY disinterested dog and the potential for CWS to "throw in the towel" greatly exists

schilling -1.5 is the play i would rather have then CWS +

*****Winky is 100% correct. In chicag papers here, they are talking how sox didnt bring the rest of the starters and Pierzinski....everyone is taking an overly casual attitude here. Over or Boston would be the play here BIG TIME******

Well, if on one side you have a dis-interested team that didn't bring all it's starters, and on the other side you have Schilling who shouldn't really be out there pitching anyways...I think the right call is obvious here. Pass.

Good luck on the Sox though.

The White Sox and McCarthy? No thanks. White Sox not even playing their regular starters for this one. Red Sox have been very hot at home. An offensive scoring machine as of late. Even though Schilling is on the mound, White Sox do not look attractive here. Good luck though.

agree on the passing...both starters got something to prove out there & both sides would rather be BBQ'ing today. Maybe the game goes real fast because the bats swing at everything 'cause nobody wants to be there. I'm starting to talk myself into taking the under...

It's hard to see fundamental advantages on either side, other than BoSox bats at home.

GL. I'll be saving my powder for the Oakland total.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was not aware of the White Sox not bringing all their players. That's the good thing about these forums. I still think McCarthy will be wanting to do well here.

I do think the OVER is still a good bet.

No apology necessary winky. You gave some good info.

The Red Sox made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth but the White Sox win this one due to McCarthy's top performance. Schilling did better than I thought he would. I'll think twice before betting against him next time.
