I am one that thinks that in most situations that betting against first year head coaches is a smart play in their first game. So far this weekend first year head coaches are 4-10 ats with one game Pitt/ND where both were first year and somebody had to win. I really like New Mexico going up against UNLV and their new hc Sanford who has only 8 returning starters. This game has blowout written all over it. Any opinions on this philosophy?

Seems like it could make logical sense.

Anybody have the ATS record of these situations for the past 25 years?

Great stuff Kojak. When you have both first years going head to head then remove that game. You are saying that the games were 3-9? Wow. That's even better.

Fish... 25 years? LOL!!! How about 5 years? 3 years? LOL!!! Have you been drinking the strong coffee this morning.

Fish takes a sip: "Hey, anyone got the last 80 years of results for first year head coaches? Also, we need last season's results for 80 year old head coaches."
Fish takes another sip and speaking much faster and sweating: "Anyone got the results when the Roman gladiators were playing on the road with first year managers? Anyone? SOMEONE HAS GOT TO HAVE THIS!!"
Fish takes another sip and is carted off to the hospital/ward where slippers are 'in' this time of year....LOL!! tulsa

Another game that falls into that category is Memphis/OLe Miss with Coach Orgerren for Ole Miss in first game. I really like Ole Miss but is it a no play or play on Memphis based on this theory?

Look, you are as knowledgeable or more knowledgeable than me about general sports wagering. I know that if I see a strong 'trend' but I'm on the other side due to fundamental (rather than technical) reasons, I avoid the play. I 'no play' those and have found that to be healthy.

If I have doubts, I don't play. If I see good cappers on both sides, I don't play. There are too many opportunities available to have a play that gives me a case of the question marks.... :icon_conf tulsa

By the way...New Mexico is, so far, following right along with the trend....so far. tulsa
