Saturday night was like the 4th time in a year and a half that my property was robbed. They stole a TV, phone and a lamp.

Has anyone else been robbed more than 4 times..lol

I am getting sick of this shit.

The thievery is the only thing I can't stand about this country.

anything in particular that might make it such an attractive property to break into?

do you have an alarm with these guys of ADT ? Not that I am a fan of them but anything that helps might be worth a try

Sorry to hear that, I can understand your frustration, my advice (well this is what I would do) get a gun and shut them down.

Man that sucks.... 6 houses out of 15 houses on my street have been robbed. I have been lucky.. (knock on wood).

ADT sucks. One night the alarm went off, and the guy shows up 2 hours later. I mentioned to him that if it had been a real emergency, all my shit would be gone by the time he showed up. He said he got lost. After that my phone number changed. I owe them like 6 months worth of bills. Did they ever try to find me to pay? No... The only thing ADT is good for is having that sign on the front of your house.

not a bad idea, if the license plates of the cars are reproduced someone should start a limited edition of those ADT plates

the gun idea, as appealling as it might look..............doesnt work because I am sure he is not there all the time...

I believe ADT does sell the signs without the system......

I live in Santa Ana in a gated community. My neighbours have also been hit. One woman was tied up about 2 months ago while they cleaned her out.

Did I mention my car got stolen last year in front of the Sabana Park.

I have never seen thievery like this in my life. I have lived in 5 countries some much poorer than CR but CR is worst when it comes to stealing.

I have tried to find stats about crime in the States (just to get some kind of reference frame)

Today in capital financiero they say that a poll of UCR shows the following

in 2001 15% of the population was mugged going up to 21% in 2005
house robbery 9,8% in 2001 up to 10.6% in 2005

I find it bizarre that in a gated community stuff like that happens, is the gate open all the time or what!

I am sorry that it has happened tt but if its the 4th time you should move elsewhere

In the place where I live (not a gated community) we have about zero robbery in the last 3 years ONLY BECAUSE the neighbors are quite active regarding security and we pay a guard contracted by the neighbors, not everyone can have the same involvement (nor should it be necessary but sadly it is)

My neighbors got robbed not too long ago around 2pm in the afternoon... I even said hi to the robbers not realizing they were stealing.. b/c they pulled up in a moving truck... I figured the people were moving...

I have a Rotweiler. On my property, I have a small apartment and my main house. The small apartment is the one that gets robbed all the time. My next door neighbour was robbed 6 months ago around 3 in the afternoon.

They took out his fridge, TV, bed, dining room set and "no one" saw anything. Incredible.

honestly, getting a gun is really not a option. take it from me. you do not want that kind of resposibility (wink). Anyways, telesentinel i think is a better option. I think hat's how you spell it. Anything is better than ADT (adt is an option for gringos because the name is known in the states but here they suck). a better mouse trap or alarm system in this case would be your best option. just my 2 cents

I have a home in Fort Myers, Florida and I have never been robbed. I leave it empty about 8 months of the year and it has never been broken into.

In the U.S there is crime in certain parts but here it's everywhere.

I would leave in a heartbeat if it weren't for my job.

I was back in Fort Myers 2 weeks ago, and it was such a great feeling to go out at night and not to worry about coming back to an empty house.

its probably because things are quite segmented in the States, here you drive 5 blocks in the wrong direction and you move from high end 200k plus property to tugurios

one of many things to go in the "its the nature of the beast" category (unfortunately)

the other is that all laws are "optional", you cant park in the corners or within 25 meters of such (if you feel like it you do it), you cant drive and talk on the cell phone (if you feel like it etc) , the one time when all laws start being enforced regardless of "ayuditas", who you are or what do you look like........we will be on the right track
