It sure looked like FSU defensive back took off his helmet on his own...would have given Miami first and goal instead of the botched field-goal attempt...

Glad I don't have a bet on this one...

The refs simply didn't have the guts to call that penalty so late in the game against the home team.

Nonetheless, Miami still had a chance to kick a FG and they couldn't.

I don't know how it could have been any more clear

He took the helmet off and was all up in the Miami guys face yelling at the top of his lungs

They clearly saw him do it, threw the flag....got together without any players around and said we can't call this shit so late in the game

cant decide a game on that though, his helmet was loosened up on that hit and it wasnt completely on. yes he took it off, but that shouldnt be the deciding factor in any game.

yeah, on the 2 yd line, 1st or 2nd down would have been a perfect qb bootleg

I agree a game shouldn't come down to that...but, still, it's either a penalty or not. Can't believe Musburger didn't mention it...Danielson kinda glossed over it...

It's in the books now...just a footnote.

Exactly

We are not arguing whether Miami is complete shit or not, we are debating the penalty

It was an obvious penalty...He took the helmet off and stood 2 feet in front of the Nole and yelled his head off
He clearly could have pushed his helmet down a half inch if he wanted to

They threw the flag, shit their pants, and then called no penalty

:103631605 100% correct. Yes, what he did was wrong. NO, it didnt change any outcome of the play and there it no way the game should have been decided from taking off an already loosened helmet.

You can't decide a game on making the correct call? Wow.

Yeah really
Sounds like we have some people who only go by the rule books when it helps them :103631605

I didn't even have a wager on the game, I just felt raped after spending my evening watching that game....I was waiting for "something to happen"

All the FSU coaches went onto the field when they threw the penalty flag, and it got "dismissed"

USC must be laughing after surveying this opening college weekend landscape, sans UT's effort in Austin..but it's still very early.

I agree!

I was glad they didn't though.

Look, it sounds like the general consensus here were Miami backers... And I'll tell you that you all were on the proper side of this game. Miami is a a TD better than FSU on a neutral field (and I really hope it doesn't come to it in the ACC Championship game) until FSU finds a QB. Wright is much more prepared than Weatherford is.

But at the matter at hand, Sims clearly got his helmet half knocked off, and he took it off the rest of the way. Should have he put it back on right away? Absolutely. But that would have been the ticky tackiest call you've ever seen and the entire stadium would have gone up in flames if that's why we lost.

But Miami holder: You HAVE to get that hold down. The snapper blew it, the holder blew it, and honestly, Peattie blew it for missing two kicks in the first half. Miami made too many mistakes to win this game. FSU simply made fewer mistakes.

You can't drop passes that should have been long gains or TDs, commit dumb penalties, blow timeouts, let your brand new starting quarterback get sacked EIGHT TIMES, miss two FGs, and botch a snap and expect to win @ Doak Campbell Stadium. This penalty had nothing to do with the outcome of this game. Miami fucked themselves.

I had FSU +3.5, but am the first to admit that either team's Offense without major leaps over the next few months, would be trampled by USC's semi-pro Offense, despite USC spotting a defensive edge to either of FSU-Mia.

One ref made the call and received absolutely no backup from his buddies. It was an obvious penalty. Everybody looks bad when that's not called. Player takes his helmet off it's a penalty. It was so obvious you have to call it. Mushbanger and Danielsome are idiots for not picking up on that.

The refs had favored Miami slightly doing the game(didn't call some Miami penalties and called questionable pass interference on FS three times) It was a case of cold feet at the end. Where did the shite come from about the helmet getting knocked off? That was strange.

The snap wasn't that bad. The holder fvcked up.
