Nice recommendation. Just did a search and spent a hour looking at the area. VERY NICE SIR.

Hey, what would be the closest airport to fly into. Also, any advice on where to stay?

Thanks,

It's a little late in the year Bigbet, and the place isn't exactly hopping unless you're looking for an amusement park that had to have been built in the 1780's.

If that's really what you're looking for, Des Moines would be the airport, or maybe Omaha if it was a lot cheaper.

Minneapolis is about 2.5 hours north by car.

As TT mentioned, much better to go there in the middle of the summer.

Havent been there for years, even though grew up just 60 miles south of there, so can't really give you any good recommendations at this time.

I am. I lived in Rolfe, graduated high school in Pocahontas.

Your kidding me????

I went to Twin Rivers High School.

Rolfe and Pocahontas were in the same athletic conference as Twin Rivers, the Twin Lakes Conference.

Know many individuals from both towns.

Small, small world.

ps--Posters Cy1981 and Hawkeye171 also attended Twin Rivers.

Well, I went to school my entire life in Webster City. I moved a month into my senior year in high school, and graduated from Polky. I was unable to play athletics my senior year, due to the transfer.

Last name is Spencer. Also related to many Andersens in the area. I graduated in 1997

Very small world. And BTW, GO suckclones! :103631605

ps- While attending Jr College at Iowa Lakes, was good friends with a guy from Webster City who played football there......1979 and 1980.

You may know him, hell he could be your dad!! LOL! (forget his name, but would remember it if I heard it.)

My Dad graduated in '76, and my mom in '77. They both lived in Rolfe, and I believe went to high school there. I think Rolfe had their own HS back then, didn't they?

Many relatives still live in that area. I make it back once a year or so. Mom's maiden name was Cruikshank.

One of my best childhood memories was playing hide & seek at the Grotto. My grandma used to yell & scream at us while we were running around wild lol

Well, there is a very good chance I knew your Mom and Dad........as I lived in Ottosen, just a few short miles away.

I have many relatives from Rolfe, and in fact, one of my ancestors is actually one of the individuals credited with discovering the town!

Didn't Rolfe get hit with a tornado back in May of 2004? Either Rolfe or a town right near it?

Bradgate, only about 5 miles from Rolfe.

Tornado wiped the entire town out more or less.

My cousin lived in Bradgate when that happened. Her home was destroyed. Luckily, she wasn't home when it happened.

Good story came out of it. She moved to Gilmore City after the tornado, and 2 weeks later, an older gentlemen, whom she had never met, brought her dog to her.

She searched for her dog for several days, and couldn't find him. Thought he was dead. Nice gesture by a man who she didn't know. Said it took him two days of asking people questions to find out whos dog it was, and where the owners moved to.
