The NHL has undergone as massive of an overhaul as any sports league in the last half century. With revamped rules, a restructured salary system and a new television partner, pro hockey is the shell of the sport that locked its doors a year ago.

A few questions on the article..........

"Also, the goal-lines have been moved two feet further from the boards, leaving more room behind the net."

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the opposite true?

The net was moved BACK two feet, which along with the blue line being moved two feet closer to center ice, creates a total of four extra feet in front of the net in the zone. By doing this it creates LESS room behind the net and not more as stated.......thus creating more play in FRONT of the net, not behind it.

Secondly, on the TB Lightning........

Tampa Bay Lightning (15/1)

Winning the Stanley Cup a few weeks before the lockout must’ve been kind of like winning the lottery and then finding out we’re going back to the barter system. Tampa Bay caught lightning in a bottle in the summer of 2004, and the defending Stanley Cup champions have brought back the principals involved in that run. Dave Andreychuk, Martin St. Louis, and Vincent Lecavalier are all back and ready to go. They roster reeks of old age, but they’re still the champs and should be shown the proper respect.

Reeks of old age????

They have no more than 3 players over the age of 35..........Burke, Dimaio, and Andreychuk.

But not only that, the core representing the greatness of this team is in their youth.....

Fedentenko...25
St. Louis.....29
Lacavilier....24
Richards.....24

Along with St. Louis winning the MVP of the league last year, Richards was named the MVP of the playoffs and Lacavalier was named MVP of the World Cup a few months later.

That was a pretty cheap shot at Heatley in the article, but a decent general overview. Never count out the blues, stars, and the yotes with the great one calling the shots.

Agree, think the Briuns have improved themselves with their roster moves.

Bruin's D is a little better with Leetch there, but they still don't look like they have any strong pairs. They look set at the center and wing spots though, with thornton+zhamnov+samsanov+murray leading the way. They look a little thin on the goaltending though, heavily relying on Andrew Raycroft.
