To be honest, I never fade or play ANYBODYS selections.

However when respected handicappers speak, whoever they may be, will take a closer look at that particular game from a personal standpoint and then make my own judgements on the game and decide if the play is worthy for me to wager........or maybe get me off a game I like.

ps- Case in point, the DOLPHINS are one of my top plays this weekend and knowing that Lem likes the OTHER side will lead me to investigate a tad more on that game. Very very very seldom will Lem be on the same side as John Q. Public, a road favorite of over -4 at that. Surprising to me having followed Lem for a great number of years.

Thanks for the info Fishhead, just wondering what you see in Miami as your top play?? Maybe you think Saban has something up his sleeve for opening day?? Can't see the Dolphins hanging with Denver myself. Good luck.

Why?

1. Saban first game out of the box

2. Public on Denver

3. Home underdog

4. 15-2 ATS vs AFC West opponent

5. 6-1 ATS vs Denver in this spot

6. Denver 1-12-1 ATS in last 14 games when total is under 40

7. Matt Roth one of my favorite players. :)

I'm not arguing with your pickon Miami Fish, but some of those trends are meaningless. These are different teams. I mean are you really going to pull the trigger on miami because they have played great against the AFC WEst for awhile. So what different teams. How many of those games as Saban or for that matter Ferrotte been in. Like I said not arguing picking Miami but not for those reasons

Lem Banker has been appearing here on a local Vegas radio station every Friday as well as a short spot on TV for the 3 + years I have lived here. My observation has been that He is better at picking the obscure College games than He has been on his NFL picks. By the way his picks sucked last week so I would think He might just do OK this week. Damn it's hard to take Hawaii at MSU !:lolBIG:

Tough road game for Denver anyway you look at it............especially with two home games on the horizon after this.

Not a fanatical trend player by any means, but glad these are in my favor and do believe they have some small merit in this spot.

For every positive trend on a game, more times than not there is a trend of some sort to offset it.

My main basis for liking the DOLPHIN side is public swaying towards the Denver side and I believe Miami matches up very well with the Broncos..........this and getting a generous +4.5 or more.

I am also very heavy on the Dolphins...or will be tomorrow when the line moves up some more. But the icing on the cake will come in the afternoon as the 49ers upset the Rams!

Lots of variables on this game and those are the games I usually pass on. New coach, Ricky Williams, QB play, Mc Michaels, pathetic last year, lots of losses from last year and then as long as We are reciting stats.. How about the very important stat the Denver has won 10 of it's last 12 opening season games ! Tough to give up this many points on the road so I will probably sit this one out. Of course probably means nothing this far before game time. I will probably have it as my lock of the year by game time !

Ricky Williams is suspended for first 4 games, so don't let that figure in to your pick

Broncos usually start the season off very strong, then fade in the middle of the season losing games they should win, only to make a late rally the last few games. Very hard to bet against them in the first 4 or 5 games. Just review recent years and you will see exactly what I mean. That is definitely a reflection on their coach and their philosophy, which emphasizes starters and leaves very little depth. Two injuries occur and the team starts coming apart at the seams.

Been a Bronco fan all my life, its so damn predictable. They will back into the playoffs again and go nowhere. They still have a lot of good players, but only the first string. They have nothing for backups outside of running back and defensive line. They have been searching for a #2 QB and a #3 WR for ages.
