CARSON CITY, Nev. July was another record month for Nevada casinos -- which won a little more than 958 (M) Million dollars from gamblers.

That's an almost 18 percent increase from July 2004 -- and a 12th straight monthly record.

The state Gaming Control Board says the gambling win statewide was the biggest percentage increase since November 1999.

Win was what the casinos won on gamblers' wagers of 13-point-seven (B) Billion dollars during July.

The state's take in those winnings? 64-point-seven (M) Million dollars in taxes.

Sure Nevada is making more money. They have all of these stupid options at the Blackjack tables, some pay 6-5 for BJ, Video Poker payouts are down (1 for 1 for 2 pairs), Sports Future Odds that are 50% of what you can get offshore.

Nevada is becoming a place for suckers.

I bet they don't set a record for September with Katrina, record gas prices, and a certain percentage of the US population giving money to charity.

The casinos will win longterm after Katrina, as they now have a nice arguement to get the existing licensees in Biloxi and New Orleans landbased rebuilds instead of the barges that are splintered and washed ashore.

If Hard Rock, Copa, Casino Magic,etc..are allowed to build real landbaseed destinations like Beau Rivage(Biloxi) and Harrahs(NO), both of which are totally intact and "relatively' unharmed, then they will draw larger amounts tourist$.

Short term hit..longterm win?
