MLB Hot lines: Tuesday`s best bets

Rockies at Dodgers - Colorado +105
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been a thorn in Clint Hurdle’s side for a long time.
“They`ve dominated us since I`ve been here,” said Hurdle, the Rockies manager since 2003. “Plus, I never got a hit in this ballpark as a player, and I`m still not letting go of that. I only think about it every time I come to L.A. I can`t seem to bury that."
But Hurdle could get a measure of redemption tonight - a Colorado win would complete a season series victory over Los Angeles.
Sun-Woo Kim, 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA in his last three starts, is on the hill for the Rockies. The Dodgers counter with 22-year-old Edwin Jackson, who has an 11.77 ERA in four career outings versus the Rockies and allowed six runs in five innings against Colorado on Sept. 4.
“He was real good early, and then his command wavered some there in the fourth and fifth inning,” said Los Angeles manager Jim Tracy.

Red Sox at Jays - under 9 ½ runs
The long season is catching up with Miguel Batista.
The Toronto Blue Jays closer has blown two of his last eight save opportunities and has a 6.00 ERA over the last seven days.
“I think he may be tired. It`s his first year doing it,” manager John Gibbons said of his stopper.
But Batista’s absence may not be a bad thing for under bettors.
Justin Speier or Scott Schoeneweis will likely step in for the 34-year-old. The duo have not allowed a run in 8 1/3 combined innings versus Boston this year and Speier has not allowed a run in his last nine appearances out of the bullpen.

Padres at Giants - over 7 ½ runs
Barry Bonds is back.
The silver slugger made his much anticipated return last night and nearly wowed the hometown crowd by going yard in his first at bat.
“Truthfully, I felt I didn`t want to let the city down,” Bonds said. “They came to see you play, and you really want to put on a good performance for them.”
Following the game, Bonds admitted he was tired after the 11-pitch at-bat that resulted in a ground-rule double. He finished the night 1-for-4, but did fly out to the warning track in one of his other trips to the plate.
Bonds and the Giants face Brian Lawrence tonight. Bonds, hitting .476 with three homers and 10 walks in 21 career at-bats versus the Padres right-hander, told the San Francisco Chronicle he expects to play but isn`t sure about Wednesday afternoon`s series closer.
"That`s my plan, that`s why I`m here," Bonds said. "There`s no doubt in my mind I can play the game at a high level."

A’s at Indians - Cleveland –154
“[Nick] Swisher is struggling,” Oakland manager Ken Macha conceded Monday. “I think he needs a couple days off.”
Swisher has 17 dingers and 64 RBIs on the year, but a 6-for-69 slump has dropped his average to .230. Still, while a couple days off will probably help Swisher, it may not necessarily be a good thing for the A’s. Oakland had a 4-18 record when the outfielder missed time earlier this season, first with a shoulder injury and later when he attended his grandmother’s funeral.
In his place the A`s started Hiram Bocachica, who went 1-for-4 last night versus the Indians. The hit was the 29-year-old`s first in the majors since last September.
