R.A. Dickey has been an underdog his whole pro career. He was going to be a #1 draft with a multi mil bonus, but a physical shoed that his pitching arm was missing the ulnar nerve (I'm remembering from about 6 years). He ended up getting a 50,000 sign bonus but has bucked all odds to pitch in the show for parts of the past four years. He has supposedly developed a knuckeball, and I for one believe that this warrior will MAKE it work.

how is he pitching in a pennant race:

Blue Jays are 3-11 in Dickeys last 14 home starts.

Atlanta won its third straight following a five-game losing streak, including its first two games at SunTrust Park.
Dickey (1-1), who left Toronto to sign an $8 million, one-year contract with the Braves, gave up two runs and seven hits in six-plus innings with six strikeouts. He allowed consecutive home runs in the second to Hunter Renfroe and Austin Hedges.
