Made a pick 3 wager at pinnacle. 9th race at balmoral my ticket was 1/8/1,2,3,10. $4 dollar investment. 1 wins 1st leg pays $94.00, 8horse wins second leg and pays $45.00. Now I'm live to 4 horses in last leg 1,2,3, & 10.
Post time favorite is the #5 horse and of course he wins as the $1.70 to 1 favorite. Pick 3 payoff is 2 out of 3 and pays $94.00. Funny thing is I went 2 out of 3 on all four of my $1 tickets, also the 10 horse was scratch in the last race. ILlinois rules state when a horse is scratch in legs of pick three you will be given post time favorite. My ticket show be a winner and I should revieve a whole pool payout. Pool happened to be $5200. Pinnacle has graded my ticket as a loser. Is this correct. I went 2 out of three of 3 of tickets and my fourth ticket is 2 for 2 with a scratch. Post time favoite makes ticket 3 out of 3.

The ticket with the #10 reverts to a refund as per their rules at:

www.pinnaclesports.com/horses.asp

Scratches:

1.

If a horse is scratched, all Win/Place/Show wagers will be refunded and the portion of Exacta/Trifecta/Superfecta/Quinella combos that contain the scratched horse will be refunded. (Please see rule regarding entries)
2.

We do not offer Parlays or If bets on horse races.
3.

For Daily Doubles, if a horse is scratched before the 2nd leg, a consolation will be paid on that combo, as specified by the track payouts.
4.

For Pick 3's, and Pick 4's, if a horse is scratched in any leg, you will receive refunds on all combos with the scratched horse, no matter when the horse was scratched. You will not receive the track favorite or any consolation payouts, but instead a refund. This is an advantage for the player.

You only get a post time favorite if the other legs of the pick 3 ran then your horse was scratched. If your horse is scratched before the first leg of the pick 3 runs its a refund!!

Thanks for the info. What i don't get is pinnacle rules state this is an advantage to the player? you tell me how geting a $1 refund is an advantage. My $1 pick three going into the final leg to the scracth horse #10 was hypothitically worth over $1000. $1 on $94 horse gets y0u $47, this $47 is parleyed to a $45 horse. Why is this an advantage to get a $1 refund, when my ticket is worth over $1000 after 2 legs. It's a bullsh-t rule that show be changed.

This is not true. If you advance wager and you select a horse that is later scratch. As long as this selection isn't the 1st leg your scratch selection will be replace by favorite, no matter when horse is scratch.

Zeeman, while I understand your point, there is not anything to be done. Pinnacle's rules are stated clearly regarding scratches in pick 3 races. The advantage to the player is; instead of forcing you to have a favorite that you passed on originally, your money is refunded. You can argue whether of not that is an advantage to players, but it will not change anything regarding the clearly stated rules and your scratched and refunded pick 3 bet.

Wil,

I agree. I play matchups and Pick 4s almost exclusively. I'm trying to beat favorites in most races, not have additional tickets on them. I'd rather have a refund than action on a suspect favorite that more than likely I didn't play or have a diluted payoff due to the favorite winning plus all of the scratch tickets.

Zeeman,

If pick three wagering is still open and your horse gets scratched you don't get post time favorite, lol. ONLY IF THE PICK THREE IS CLOSED and 1st leg ran and your horse gets scratched will you recieve post time favorite, that is if you have a late scratch in the 2nd or 3rd leg!
