how does handicapping motivation or team hunger come into your overall handicapping. I feel it to be very important....

three examples I can think of off of the top of my head are

1) rogers clemens performance tonight after learning of death of his mom (player, playing with 'meaning').... Team wants to support Roger.

2) Brett Favres performance when he found out his parent died, (same factors as above).

3) New Orleans Saints performance when finally coming together on the fireld in week 1 as 7 point underdogs winning straight up. (Team playing with purpose after the hurricane).

I think in individual sports or team sports where one person has a major effect on the game (pitcher, qb, goalie) - yes. As a whole, no. I have lost so much money over the years betting on teams who were in a "must win" and never came through.

Lets say Craig Biggios mother passed away before last nights game instead on Clemens. There isn't near the effect since he bats onle 5 times a game.
