*TCU over UTAH by 2
As we predicted in our SUPER BEST BET winner last week, TCU came up very flat on the road at SMU. The Horned Frogs should be able to bounce back, however, because this game will be their first in the Mountain West Conference, and TCU does have a legitimate shot at the title. Sometimes, you have to give up something (SMU) to get something. Despite missing numerous main ingredients from last season, both players and coaches, Utah’s offense hasn’t skipped a beat so far but they haven’t left home, either. TCU, 26-24.

BIG AL

Sport: MLB
Game: Washington Nationals at New York Mets
Date/Time: 9/15/2005 1:00PM EST
Pick: Nationals/Mets 'over' 7.5 runs
Reason: At 1:10pm our complimentary selection is on the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets 'over' the total. The Nationals are hitting the road for what is likely the trip that will determine their postseason fate. They don't come back home until next Tuesday after visiting the Mets and San Diego and by the time they get back to DC either the phones will be ringing with folks wanting to buy playoff tickets, or RFK seats will be easy to come by for the remaining homestand. The Nats are currently four games back in the wild card with three teams in front of them. If Washington just finishes above .500 that's quite an accomplishment given what the expectations were going into this season. One of the big reasons has been tonight's starter, righty Livan Hernandez. Although one normally associates Livan's starts with low-scoring games, in four starts against the Mets this season, there have been a total of 46 runs scored, or over eleven runs per game. In the two games he's started at Shea Stadium, a total of 32 runs have been scored, or an average of sixteen per game. In fact, not counting Wednesday's game, an average of exactly ten runs total per game have been scored between these two in the seven games played in New York. Take the 'over'. As always, good luck...Al McMordie
