ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
Nine players were fined for their roles in a fight before Monday night's game between the Eagles and Falcons, with Atlanta defensive tackle Chad Lavalais drawing the biggest fine -- $7,500 -- for a hit on Donovan McNabb during the game.

Lavalais was fined for using his helmet on McNabb, who hurt his chest on the play. McNabb is questionable for Philadelphia's game Sunday against San Francisco because of the injury.

I'm sure that fine will stop him from making a big hit on a QB again this season! what a joke...might as well put a red jersey on the QB.

Please see my post in the "One rule you would like to change" thread. Completely and utterly ridiculous. :finger: NFL

You know how i am always doing my homer thing going on and on about my titans, well on labor day by brother and another friend i guess got tired of hearing about them...They called me on sunday promptly after that embarrassing loss to the Steelers to rub it in...My brother is a 9ers fan so i dont waste to much time on his dogging me but the other guy is a huge eagles fan that was depressed for a week after the superbowl!!!! Of course i kept quite bidding my time and waiting for Monday nite foots, praying and hoping the Eagles would lose!!! And as soon as they took a knee i called him and left a message on his phone (i called at midnight eastern!!!!)

Of course i have been sweating all week what they hell i would do after the titans drop another game to the ravens and the calls start coming in again..

I have a feeling this time round, they will be a little bit reserved or at least make sure their teams have bagged the week's win before calling me!!!

I couldn't believe the refs totally missed that call. There was an interception on that play too. Could have been the difference in the game. Of course the hit comes moments after the throw so the hit didn't cause the INT. But that was one of the more clear cases of launching yourself helmet first into the QB. Was a textbook penalty the refs missed.

I also thought the guy speared him. Was very surprised they didn't call it.

Since when is a helmut to the midsection of a STANDING player a foul? It certainly wasnt a late hit and it was not to the head. If he was laying on the ground it would be "spearing" but he wasnt. How many ballcarriers get a helmut to the gut every game? The call was correct. Fining him is not. JMHO

Not allowed to hit a guy with the crown of your helmet first while leaving your feet. I'm not even sure if you are allowed crown first when on your feet. If it is facemask first that is fine, but helmet first is considered using the helmet as a weapon.

I will accede to your answer. Never heard of that before tho.
