The German city of Munich has ordered the world's biggest party, the Oktoberfest, to turn the volume down before it starts Saturday.
The city has decreed that oompah bands in tents play more sedate, folksy music ans stick to a maxium 85 decibels before 6pm. Some say people have been getting too fired up by the thumping thythms and singalong refrains of Hey baby and Mambo #5.
Some say the festival has lost some of its Bavarian feel and older people were staying away.
Last year 5.9 million people guzzled 1.6 million gallons of Bavarian beer and 900,000 of visitors were foreigners.
American are such a common sight that the Oktoberfest defined Americans as: "A species mostly spotted moving around in packs and wearing shorts, baseball caps and Hawaiian shirts."
Officials hope the recent decrees will reduce troubling brawls at recent events.
