1) Purdue +3.5 at Minnesota...I have no idea which way to go on this game. Minnesota piles it on teams early every year and you never know how good their team is. Purdue got out of Arizona with a victory. Maroney looks like a future NFL starter. Which one of these teams are for real?

2) Michigan -3 at Wisconsin...Wisconsin beat a feisty UNC team and Michigan looked better against a terrible EMU team. Hard to believe Michigan could have 2 losses this early into the season. Chad Henne continues to be exposed for having the benefit of Braylon Edwards last year.

3) Iowa +7 at Ohio State...I thought this spread would be around 5 or 5.5. I am shocked early $$ continues to come in on Ohio State.

Any other thoughts?

Penn State 788
Northwestern -13

They get penalized 13 points for playing in "Dyke" Stadium. Would be better if they had a nice "BEAVER" to play in.

The game opened -9 at CRIS...........the money has come on Iowa early.

As an IOWA fan, want NO part of Iowa in this game.

FWIW, poster Hawkeye171 and myself each made the game -7 late Saturday night.

1) I won't bet on a Mason coached team in this one. Purdue has a better defense IMO.

2) Michigan laying points at Camp Randall? Oops...Wisky would really have to stink to lose this one.

3) I would think Iowa would be MORE angry about losing to Iowa St than Ohio St would be losing to TX. Is Ohio State that much better? I don't think so...Iowa's defense is pretty quick and this should be a slugfest (battle of the linebackers).

As a Big-Ten fan, I would have to say Purdue is the play over Minnesota, but I think over is stronger. Wisconsin at home and getting points looks good. Iowa at Ohio State is more of a toss-up, but I think the Buckeyes defense will be the difference.

Purdue/Mn being from Mn I would pass on this one.
Wiscosin over Mich
Ohio St over Iowa
PS. I would like to see as many maroom and
gold jackets at Dennys or Perkins in Nov.
as I seen Yellow and black last time Iowa
played Mn here.

Posted this over in the college forum:

As an OSU fan, I bought Iowa +7 in August thinking this line would be closer to 4 at gametime. I have bought back OSU -7 this week and ate the juice. I love Tate as a QB, but I just did not like the way that ISU game went at all. Iowa straight up got hit in the mouth and they never responded. OSU has been even better than I expected this season, though I do feel they need to pick one QB and go with him. Coming into the season it was supposed to be Smith, but he looked shaky vs SDSU last week. An outright Iowa win wouldn't shock me but after seeing the way they were handled by ISU, this line looks about right to me.

I think another game to look at is Penn St-Northwestern. We will find out a lot about both teams in this one. Northwestern is by far the best team Penn St will have faced (and that's saying something). Strength vs strength with the NW O vs the PSU D. NW has beaten the lions outright 2 straight years as dogs and held them to 7 points each time. NW getting 7 at home may be a little generous. Cats went unbeaten at home in the big ten last year beating OSU, Purdue, as well as Kansas OOC.

Nice to get into the conference schedule. :toast:

I like Illinois +points vs Mich St myself. MSU just beat ND and has a revenger with Mich on tap.

we all know what happened the last time Iowa lost to Iowa St!!! (for those that don't, they ran the table in the big 10) Here's to hoping Iowa offense puts another 30+ on that so called defense in the SHOE!:drink:

After playing Notre Dame, teams are usually flat the following week. This angle is almost always profitable every year. Last year, going against these teams was 7-3. Keep an eye on this angle. LT

Someone is going to have to convince me not to take Minnesota this week. I love them laying 4 against Purdue. That running back is something else, and Shellenberger called Minny's O-Line the best he has ever seen in college football. And he has won a national title, remember? I think there will be a lot of points scored, and I see Minnesota winning by double digits. Anyone disagree strongly?

I'm starting to like Illinois more. Getting 10+ points at home. They played Cal tough and M.S.U. coming off Notre Dame should play into the Illini's hands.

I kind of agree with Hawkeye. MSU could be in a spot here after such a big win and then head out on the road as a double digit road favorite.

I like Ohio St in this one. Texas was a little too physical but this is a huge home game and they will play well plus they have better talent.
