NOTE: I did not have a wager on the game
Note #2: I am bitter for losing the final two plays for the Skybook MNF contest

Really after watching football for a long time, and wagering on it for not THAT long....It REALLY does make you ponder the game.....One side of me says REALLY strongly that it is in NO WAY rigged, setup, etc.....but there are just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many events that happen in the course of the game (usually towards the end)...That is really just makes you wonder....With 4 mins to go in the 4th Q...Redskins didn't have a PRAYER...twice they were down to 4-X yards for a first down.......First time Brunell gets a 20 yard pass....second time he gets a touchdown (on a 4-15!!!!!!!!!)

Then when they scored again on that 70 yard bomb.....it just leaves you in awe......Common sense/casual sports watcher says no way it's rigged....When you see these things and know the amount of money being wagered....It really makes you think

sleep well, there was no fix.....

Never said this game in particular, I'm saying OVERALL

If you take a good majority (especially televised games)....there is ALWAYS something crazy happening.....I'm just saying...If I am a casual watcher at home....I'm like "wow this is awesome".....from a bettors point of view..."wow this sure does happen a lot....at almost the same times"....

I mean just tonight, ok it's not fixed.....but Brunell wakes up in the final 4 mins of the game....and all of a sudden Moss can catch passes?

It really does put the thought in your head, but after you think about it you know its not possible. There is way too many mouths for the word not to get out if it was. Also, football is such a TEAM effort that it would take more then one player to fix a game. The refs are the only ones that could fix a game, but now with instant replay that would also be difficult.

- Small school Colleges are a different story.

You should try betting baseball if you want to question teams coming back late in the game. It happens a couple times a night. Every night.

I don't get what it is that your saying looked fixed. bad players making good plays? 15 games a week, some weird stuff is bound to happen.

If anyone wants a good "the fix is in" example they should dig up the UTEP/Hou in game thread from last thursday. Many posters were SURE it was fixed against the over. I guess whoever was in on it forgot to fix away the 60+ second half points.

Gamblers (especially poker players) love to bitch in general, and need to justify bad decisions/variance.

There are a lot of threads about fixed games, and obviously 98% of the threads are exactly what you are talking about, bad luck against them. However, if you are saying no games are fixed then you are ignorant because there is still a lot of that going on in college sports.

You're probably right. I just get a kick out of every fumble, missed free throw, or cracked aces being some grand conspiracy. Real clown time

Exactly...You know there is a 99% chance it's all legit

It just happens time and time again...and it LOOKS so predictable

I do bet baseball...but I view it quite differently

I'm not taking about just teams coming back...I'm talking about HOW IT HAPPENS....When I am viewing a baseball game, to be honest, I can count on one hand the number of times I thought "wow this game is fixed"

There are sooooooooooooooooooo many baseball games played each year....and I don't think it even 2% of the time.....with Football it just makes me look in awe

I am moreso talking about the SPORT...not this ONE GAME....

With all this said...I DIDN'T EVEN WAGER ON THE GAME...which was statement #1...because I KNEW people would think this is the cause

When you see how tight of a spot Brunell had to fit those 2 balls in, you know it wasn't rigged...just either a hell of a play or a shitload of luck....probably both.

Exactly..It's the "aura" it gives off

Until the final 4 mins of the game...The skins couldn't do shit
In the last 4 mins Brunell is the next John Elway

i mean it's the reason we watch the games, right? if we all didn't have $$ on either side, we woudln't give some of this talk the time of day, just sit back and appreciate how amazing the world of sports is...

BUT
we all do throw $$ down, so let's argue!!haha

Poor example of a game that might be fixed. No chance this one was. Two good(lucky) tosses against defense that was trying and a fluke win was the result.

Good point about fitting the ball in a tight spot dsethi.

I believe luck had something to do with it but I predicted scores later in the game in my post regarding the 2nd-half total. A hot, humid night in the big D is bound to wear down the defense more than the offense. Throw in Santana Moss and you have potential for score.

I took the OVER 16.5 for that reason.
