Whoever is in charge of poker coverage on ESPN needs to get a clue. The WSOP ME has been over 2 months ago and they are showing circuit events over and over again. Why in the hell cant ESPN show the main event tape delayed 30 mins? This is unreal. Its almost like not broadcasting the SuperBowl until July. Whats the point? If they would show this stuff semi live the ratings would go thru the roof.

Well keep in mind that most people wouldnt want to see it tape delayed by 30 minutes or so. Because then, tehy couldnt go back in and add the announcers nor could they add the interviews and pictures from home to help the TV audience relate to the players

I am sure a lot of the current players would never want to have it shown until the event was over. Lots of information could be gleaned from seeing what state of mind players are in, who is playing tight or loose, who is folding to any action, etc.

I think a one-week delay is plenty, but of course they are milking the ratings for all they are worth. After all even a one-day delay isn't enough, just about everyone has heard who won the big one.
