My Miami Heat will sign Gary Payton tomorrow. He will sign for the veteran's minimum, 1 year at 1.1 million. That leaves the Heat with its 5.1 million exemption to spend on someone else or to keep in case someone becomes available later in the season, via free agency or a trade. GP is nothing like he used to be, but I would say he has to rank up there in terms of backup point guards. Being a huge Heat fan, I am very excited about this signing. See ya in the Finals. :103631605

As long as he doesn't drop Wade's suitcases on the way to the bus, he'll be an okay addition :toast:

BRAWAHAHAHAHA. Old time vet gets the rookie treatment.

Seriously, he's there wishing for a ring. Nothing else.

Great pickup , better than Damon Jones who couldn't guard a lamp post

Although he is not the defender that he used to be, he is still an upgrade over Damon Jones as a defender. A huge upgrade. :103631605

The Heat are out signing one name after another, but someone tell me have they really made themselves that much better? I mean Jason Williams, who wants him? Eddie Jones is getting up there in the years, but they let him go pretty easily and I think he is a nice role player. Then Damon Jones couldn't defend well, but the Heat basically are saying Wade is just going to have the ball all night long. Not a terrible thing, but I would worry about him wearing down facing all those double teams and the top defender on each opponent. And Antoine Walker, I don't even think I need to go there. Just very puzzling stuff.

Maybe they were stung by not getting Finley, but I just want some ideas why they took a good team that obviously is still about Shaq and Wade and made all these changes around them. Seems to me losing good role guys like both Damon and Eddie and replacing them with flashy ball hogs like Williams and Walker isn't exactly what you want to do when you are so close to the title to start with.

I agree with WildBill, ironically Eddie Jones once again will probably have left a team on the cusp of a couple titles...

Is Karl Malone next?

PISTONS are gonna kick miami ass anyways.
I have no respect for guys who talk about winning championship but can't do it by their own. Malone wanted to win it in LA with Shaq. So did Payton. If you're not good enought to win on your own so shut the fuck up.

I have never agreed with you as much as I do about this...Walker and Williams are by no means upgrades (in this teams context)
