My father is getting sucked into this guy and i need to find some of the many horror stories surrounding him. I have done a few google searches and haven't found anything real solid. If anyone has stories of their own involving this guy or can point me in the direction of negative testamonials for the Feist service it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Some people just want to be suckered. A fool and his money will soon depart. Tell your old man that my friend used to work in Jim Feist's boiler room operation. His job was to answer the phone from the suckers calling thinking they were going to get winning picks. Fiest was so bad at picking games that my friend was giving his own picks to the fools who paid money for picks. Even when Feist did not have a pick for a particular game, he was told to "pick a side" and give it to the client as Feists.

Absolutely do not get involved with Feist. His reps on the phone will torture you. They'll start with free picks, then a $49/week package, then they'll shoot for the big $1000/season deal. They will just reel off pick after pick, gloat the winning picks in your face and try to make you forget all the losing ones they gave.

Put in the keywords "feist scam" into your search and you should find more.

Here was one story from handicappingpolice.com

<TABLE class=body cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" bgColor=#ffffff border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#d4e9f6><TD>Handicapper:</TD><TD>Jim Fiest (http://www.jimfiest.com/)</TD></TR><TR bgColor=#f5f5f5><TD vAlign=top>Complaint:</TD><TD>We have had a variety of complaints from numerous visitors stating that this company will sell a package, consistantly loose, and then attempt to convince the buyer to purchase a better package with more winners.

This is not completely bad, however, Jim Fiest boasts about numerous winnings however never provides the results. It is not bad to sell different packages of picks, however, consistantly losing and then telling your client to purchase another package for winners is not a good business practice. Complaints are also against them because even after purchasing the higher packages, they have still lost, and instead of offering free picks to compensate for their losings, they suggest purchasing a higher package again. Most handicappers who sell packages (not individual games usually) will offer some sort of freebie to compensate for a losing day, not that they have to, but out of good business practice.

We have received many of the same complaints about this company since this was originally posted. Stay AWAY from Jim Feist and his crew!

Lesson Learned: if a company sells you losing picks, and then blaims you for purchasing a cheap package and pressures you into a better one, cut your losses and walk away.

Look here is the straight scoop. I went through sales training in the early 90s and lasted 2 weeks. Didn't have it in me to be an outright con artist.

Feist will give you a worthless free pick, its whatever the sales guy wants to tell you. But that only comes after he tries to upsell you on a $200 weekend package or "just" $79 for the best game on the board. During this time he is sizing you up, figuring out what you are worth. We didn't have the resources back then, but I bet now they have software to check on where you live and they immediately try to figure out how rich your neighborhood is.

After you are sized up, the agent is going to try to sell you a month or a season. The price is purely based on his read of your wealth. As the sales manager said, "what's 10 dimes to someone living in Beverly Hills? now if he lives in Detroit, you know what to do". After you get sold the bigger package, they give you a set of picks they are hoping goes 50-50. The 50-50 customer is perfect, he doesn't win anything, but he gets enough taste of winning to think you got something for him. If they can get that, then the real upsell comes.

Say you go 4-7 with him over a weekend, the sales guy is going to call you and say sorry, but hey the platinum/24 carat/inner circle (whatever) bettors went 8-1. Wouldn't you like to join that? Normal price is X, but since you are already a season subscriber, I will give you credit for what you paid plus a discount so that say 10 dimes a year package is only $6995. It just never ends.

As for the picks, forget it. They are put on a board in nominal terms of each package. They are totally interchangeable though. If you are in the top club picks, but they didn't tell you that, they will upsell an even "better" package, but actually just give you the picks one level down. It really means nothing. The best bet of the night is always about to kick off and the strongest game of the year goes tomorrow.

Jim Feist is nothing but a scammer. His guys he has working for him, Cokin, McGrew, Sprietzer and the rest all are scammers. He gets hot just like any capper but he cost my brother-in-law thousands and almost his marriage. Thats when I stepped in and came about with this name. Tell your father NOT to pay Feist and his buddies a penny. Don't even follow him. Tell him to visit SCI on insider power and follow DOC'S plays as he's on a great run right now. And its free. You need to follow certain cappers as when they get hot then send it in but all cappers get cold also. Feist and Company are nothing but scammers that are making a killing off people like your father who fall into their trap. Take it from me JimFiestSux!!

That is the sad thing about it all. All those handicappers have some skill, even Feist, but he the way you make big money selling to that market is to do it that way. Cokin is a very solid capper, one of the most intelligent guys you could meet in Vegas about the subject. If you listen to him on radio you see he knows a ton about anything he talks about, he knows obscure college teams backup QBs most of the time. Very talented guy, but he got into this side of the business because what he can make betting can be tripled or more just selling the picks through the high pressure market Feist runs. Even Feist is a sharp guy, although I think his hired guns are even sharper.

Just remember its all a business. These guys aren't selling advice, they are selling hype. There are some guys out there truly selling advice, but the industry is sullied by these guys because most people who will pay for picks are in it for the hype and action, not winning.

I will second what Wild Bill said. I have been aquainted with Cokin over 10 years. I met him long ago in a land far away, but he knows his shit.

He just wants to make money like veryone lese. When everyone wants a play, or not even just a play, but a play on a game they want a play on, it is hard to give them what they want and stay solid.

They have to be salesmen. If they know a guy is going to go to another guy who claims to have a pick on the game they want, whhat is better taking a shot or letting the guy get scammed?

They are all scammers to some extent. I dont know how far down the road Cokin has gone, but I have to think that if he is forced to give som sucker a play he will at least put some thought into it before he throws it out there.

Obviously the best answer would be "I have no opinion on that game", but then he loses a sale.

I am no tout lover, but you have to understand their side also. Most guys that are somewhat legit want to charge a lot of money, they are more honest, but out of most people's price range. So there has to be a market for the bottom feeders. What do guys really expect for $9.99?

It is like buying a TV at Wal Mart, it is a lot cheaper and will work, but what kind of quality is it, and how much work went into making it.

Personally I think anyone that buys picks is a sap, even following pick others make no matter how hot they are isn't even that "smart" really. But at least it is free.

People just want confirmation. They aren'
t really buying a PICK, they just want to hear the guy agree with them. Just like when people search forums, not a lot of guiys are blindly going to follow someone, but if they like the same side that the looker likes the looker will probably bet te game, and more than likely for more than he would have if the other guy hadn't mentioned it.

it is the psychology of this game that makes these guys money, not their ability.

Wanna....great post but what I do not get is IF He knows his shit WHY then in the name of all that is holy would he need to dress up as a clown and tell people to buy his picks on his 800 line??

Why would he just be a successful Millionaire by playing his OWN plays:icon_conf :icon_conf

The most obvious question obviously. He does play his plays. Not sure how big anymore, but he used to bet more than a little back when I "knew" him.

The obvious reason is risk. If I knew I could sell my picks and make a guaranteed amount equal or greater than what I figure I can make now I would probably sell plays myself. That is why I scalp a lot, risk free money is FREE money, and free money is the best money.

As for his attire, every salemen has a gimmick. We all see the crazy commercials with the monkeys or the screaming immigrants. Not to mention he has been wearing that same style that since I first saw him about 15 years ago, hanging out in a smelly gym at a pretty nice college.

Trust me, he looked more out of place there than he does now.
I like him, don't always agree with him, he just is in a group that is less than reputeable. But people do things to try and make a buck all the time. Buyer beware is all I can say.

The worst of the worst DO get prosecuted and go to jail, they bust these guys all the time. I have to think that Fiest and company have to follow the letter of the law enough to stay in business and keep their TV show going. And that is the irony, because it is on TV it holds them to a higher standard then your run of the mill guys who tout on the internet. They have to sell what they are saying they are selling. If they got caught giving both sides or baiting and switching they get nailed.

they can't force someone to get a higher package, the person has to agree to do it. That is where the weak guys get hurt. More than likely they are already buried and desperate. Not defending them, just saying what anyone with a brain already knows.

These people who buy are not buried and desperate, they just approach the game different than we do at the Rx. To them gambling is gambling, doesn't matter if its football or slot machines. They do it for the thrill, not the analysis or the potential to win money over time. Pay close attention to what I said earlier, touts like this love a 50/50 record because it is exactly what their players want. The gambler who buys this stuff wants good weeks and bad weeks. He loves the rollercoaster because that leads to anticpation for what comes next. If you told him bet my plays and he knows he ends the year up money, thats no fun to him. We are rational people mostly at the Rx, the tout buyer is on average a pure action junkie where money doesn't mean much to him. He has to bet enough to get his juices going, but the win/loss at the end of the year means little. He just has to survive a full year and he will be the happiest customer around.

I know I talk about him a lot, but Chris Rock says it best. The best relationships are the exciting, I don't know what the hell is going to happen tomorrow types. Most of us crave love and stability, but a portion of the population loves that she could dump my ass tomorrow or give me mind blowing sex...I just don't know. That is also the type that loves touts and the 50/50 rollercoaster.

Jag, have him read this thread.

Look at this way. We have thousands and thousands of posters and readers here. Have you EVER heard ANYONE say that they have ever won money following Feist?

One final commet...

I could give people plays or a strategy that will make them money, it works for me, and I am sure even if the person wasn't always getting the best of it they would show some sort of profits. But is that saying that anyone would follow me wholeheratedly without straying or playing their own plays.

This sort of combines with what I alluded to earlier, and what Wildbill added to. People don't always care about winning, they want to know a winner to their game or their team. As long as theyhave action on the games they want to have action on they are happy.

You know what games have the most action in vegas are? the last few games posted on the board. Why? because people are either chasing or pshing. If they lost early they are betting those last couple games to get even,if they are winning they are taking shots at them. Those games could be a bunch of 0-4 teams matched up, and between teams that people couldn't find on a map, yet people are betting those games like there is no tomorrow.

I am not saying Feist or any tout has a wining record, but what if they do, 99% of the guys buying their plays are not playing all of them, or sticking strictly to the pays those guys gave out. Even if a guy hit 100% some players would still lose, because they would take the money the guy won and piss it away on game the player bets on his own.

That is why I don't feel sorry for guys who pay touts. They are more than likely going to lose anyways, so paying a tout a few bux just makes them lose their money a little faster.

Not judging anyone in ths thread or anyone they know, it is a simple fact. These guys cannot force you to buy their plays. Hell, their sales tactics aren't even that good anymore. Most are at least trying to use more legit numbers. Obviously if they were 0-5 last week they won't mention it, but if they were 4-1 they WILL, that is simple salesmenship. They surely aren't claiming to be 66-0 or 77-0 like Stu Fiener used to claim back in the day.
