I think boxing is a great sport, there are certain risks but as long as there are people willing to take those risks I do not think it should be done away with. Boxing has not has the popluarity as it has had in the past but it is an exciting, but dangerous sport that does have some merit in the sports world. Just my opinion.

It has always been a cash cow for me so let the games begin !
Seriously I believe it is a very dangerous Sport and I believe the Refs are slow to stop a lot of fights. I will never forget the Benny Kid Paret fight in which Paret's hands were tied up in the ropes and He was out but the ropes were holding him up. The Ref allowed Emille Griffith to pound him to his death. Ugly sight for sure !

In respect to boxing fans. I can't see myself hitting someone in the face that didn't do anything to me.

Very dangerous sport and I would like to see it banned in the future.

No boxing shouldn't be banned. If Boxing should be banned then a case could be said that nascar or all other forms of auto racing should be banned too since people die in that sport. Both men go into the ring knowing what could happen they take the risk and sadly once in a blue moon the worse does happen. I do think something is needs to be done to clean up the sport but the mess is boxing isn't as high profile as say baseball for goverment to look into it sadly.

yes it should, but no because someone died, but because it is so corrupt.

judges and boxers are bought and paid for

the problem with boxing is a glaring need for federal regulation. boxers get killed becausce the states regulating the sport are a joke!!! some fighters can get knocked out multiple times in a year without being suspended from fighting. all fighters if they get knocked out should be required to undego a cat scan from a licensed neurologist and not be allowed to fight again until the doctor clears them to fight.also some blame should be put on the las vegas casinos, hbo and showtime for not doing more to clean up the sport since they are the "big dogs" who pays the millions for the top fighters to fight and do not push for more reform and just sit back and count the money rolling in from the fighters.

More people die from playing football every year than from boxing. Should football be banned??

Football
The National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research tracks a number of head injury statistics related to football annually:

* There were 44 head injury-related deaths from 1995-2004.
* High school players sustained 43 head injuries from 1995-2004 in which there was incomplete recovery.
* College players sustained five head injuries from 1995-2004 in which there was incomplete recovery.
* According to league officials there are about 160 concussions in the National Football League every year.

Sure, let's get rid of auto racing and football as well. Many have been hurt and/or killed in all of these sports.

Boxing MUST stay, boxers know EXACTLY what they are getting into, :money8: can make you do some crazy things. One way or another...it's VERY entertaining and it shows by the payouts per fight.

Shits all fixed anyway, go back to 15 rounds and NO gloves. THEN, we'll see who the men are.

Consenting adults should be allowed to pummel each other until one loses consciousness. I also believe motorcyclists ought to be able to drive without a helmet. Just as long as these adults know the risks. Why should the government handhold an adult?

i think a good argument for the abolishment of boxing is that in what other sport do you accomplish your ultimate goal by killing someone.
