How will the NHL be booked this season?

We are less then 2 weeks from the start of the season and NO ONE knows how the books are going to handle the lines for the games. It is in the books' best interest to let the players KNOW how this sport will be booked for the upcoming season. will it be like MLB where we have a M/L (-140/+120) as well as the option to take or lay 1.5 goals? Good question - but NO ONE knows!

The one thing that REALLY needs to be answered is what will the books do for shootout games. if the game total is 4.5 and it is tied 2-2 headed to the shootout one team has to win 3-2 but will the books recognize that as the final and pay all OVER 4.5 bets?

I have asked this questin for OVER TWO MONTHS and the NEXT time I get an answer will be the FIRST time. I am not holding out any hope of that happening anytime soon, though

Winky, I have been wondering the same thing....

5DIMES has been carrying preseason games & this is how they have done it:

they offer a 1/2 puck line which is for 60 minutes only.

&

they offer a ML which is for 60 minutes + overtime + shooutout.

In relation to your question about the totals, not sure, cauz 5dimes has not been offering totals on pre-season......

personally, I think it is just one of things that we are gonna have to wait & see what happens. :icon_conf

EXACTLY - i know we aren't the only 2 out there asking

i will say this - if the Vegas books try booking games with only 60 minutes counting towards the wager the backlash will be so great theyw ill be forced to go full game very soon for NO ONE will bet the sport

i am afriad of offshore books putting uo the 100% BULLSHIT "3-way" line - quite probably THE BIGGEST RIPOFF in sports gambling. i have NEVER bet a "3-way" line and NEVER will. if the books want to bend me over and "F" me up my ass w/o any vaseline they can go to Hell - i ain't doing it. 3-way lines should be illegal they are that outrageous a ripoff

Its going to suck just like soccer does for betting, those ties after regulation will kill, anything that happens as part of the shoot-out will be a different bet.

ANY book that does that might as well save us the trouble and NOT book the game. i have an account @ skybook and if they "3-way" the game they can forget me EVER betting an NHL game there - then again - most books would probably love for that to happen since mostly only "sharps" bet the NHL and my guess is the books get KILLED every year by hockey

Winky-- I hope books are taking my advice and will be offering TWO sets of lines.............one that includes the shootout, and one that does not.

Games that do NOT include the shootout, will be booked just as before.

i hear you 100% there, but i think thats exactly what they will do, hoping for lines like we see in playoff hockey where there MUST be a winner, and instead we will get stuck with the 3-way line LOL

With all the books in existance, we are sure to find a few that will suit are liking in terms of betting the NHL.................at least, I surely hope so.

from time to time you can find good value betting on the 3 WAY line.....

but those examples are few & far between.....

I really hope this is not what we are gonna see for Hockey.....

SURELY, pinnacle will not do that to us....

That value was only for the tie, IMO

With scoring going up this year (they SAY it will), I wouldn't find much value in betting on a tie.

If the books want business they will setup asian lines like they do in Soccer, but only for 60 minutes I don't know how they will incorporate in OT into that.

JMO:

We will be seeing lines like Soccer..
Example:
Dal +Half -1.55 03.5 -1.75
@ STL -Half +1.35 U3.5

Tie: +300

All NHL bets are for 60 minutes only and will not include overtime or shootouts..like Soccer does not include them in their bets. They will also have $$ lines that will include OT and Shootouts...JMO

The ties will be for regulation play and I expect there to be more ties than before...Jight be some great value in the Ties since they will not include OT and shootouts..JMO
