If the Giants somehow comeback and win the division, Barry Bonds will have a strong case for winning the MVP award even though he has played less than 20 games. This is JMO. But if you trully give the award to the person that brings his team to the postseason, Bonds is the man for the award.

Amen...he choked BIG TIME last night.

Randy Winn is this team's MVP without question and he has only been with them a short time as well.

That is funny...I can hear it now, "and the 2005 NL MVP is Barry Bonds with 65 at bats"

Don't count him out for NLCS MVP though.

Last night was just icing on the cake...look at his numbers since coming over via trade:

52 games

72-for-208 (.346 avg with a .379 on base percentage as a leadoff hitter)
35 runs
19 doubles
12 HRs
7 SBs

The guy has been unbelieveable. Multiply those numbers by 3 to get what a full season on that pace would be and he would be in the running for MVP. The Giants have needed a leadoff hitter for quite a while...they may have landed the best leadoff hitter in the National League!

Gee a steroid user/cheater/liar etc. etc. who is hated by the press gets his sub-.500 team up to 79 wins instead of the 75 they were going to win by going 22 for 60 for the year. Yeah, he'd be a lock for MVP.

I don't think you can hold that against him anymore as it is obvious a high percentage of the players are using.

On the contrary. You can use it against all the cheaters. Just because they're all doing it, doesn't make it right.

How many times has he tested positive for steroids? To single him out makes no sense.

If you guys think Barry Bonds 700 homers are strictly due to using steriods, you do not know baseball. Barry Bonds was the best player in baseball in 91 thru 95 even before he even heard of BALCO. Barry is not on any substance right now and hes hitting homers in his sleep. His HR to at bat ratio is the highest in MLB since he has come back this season.
