For decades, visiting football teams playing at Kinnick Stadium have dressed and showered in the pink locker room. The tradition was started by former Iowa coach Hayden Fry, a psychology major who said pink had a calming and passive effect on people.
As part of the stadium's two-year, $88 million makeover, athletic officials took the former coach's interior decorating ideas to another level, splashing pink across the brick walls, shower floors and installing pink metal lockers, carpeting, sinks, showers and urinals.

I did not know that. Must say that it is a great idea. How can anybody get ready to play football in a pink locker room? The secret of the Kinnick HFA has been revealed.

Yes, HAYDEN FRY did that upon his arrival to Iowa City in the last 70's.

He also wrote the Pittsburgh Steeler organization and asked for permission to have and use the Steelers EXACT uniform details because he respected their winning tradition. The Steelers obliged and the rest is history!

He also brought the TIGER HAWK emblem to the University.

The saying "SCRATCH WHERE IT ITCHES" was also a famous FRY quote.

Last week, a U of I professor said the lockers rooms demean women and homosexuals. Another Wacko professor, that Iowans are paying his/her (not sure) salary. I think the Hawks need all the advantage they can get after this month's drubbing at Iowa State and Ohio State.

I heard that too. People can perceive insults from everything nowadays, even color.

I wonder what color demeans men? Maybe pink is mocking men, not really demeaning women.

I don't think I'd like taking a leak in a giant pink urinal
