I feel like it is - especially if Boston were to sweep or force a playoff - tell me this series is not bigger than the World Series - how about if Cleveland were out and these two went at it again the playoffs?

this is EXACTLY why those living on the BEST Coast LOATHE people from the Least Coast - because everyone there thinks the whole god damn world revolves around them - when in reality NO ONE gives a "F" what goes on

is this bigger then the WS? HELL NO!

why - because NEITHER team is assured of making it - and honestly - i don't think either one will for right now - the sox/yankess are the 4th and 5th best teams in the AL

if both make the playoffs (and i don't think they both will) at least 1 will get knocked off in the ALDS if not both

let's keep in mind BOTH thee angels and chisox will enter the playoffs with fully rested teams and pitching staffs and facing teams that won't be (injuns/bosux/yankees) and this will show because if the yankees and bosux both make the playoffs whoever plays the angels WILL LOSE!

so let's all hold the hype and overkill (the east coast doing that - nah - never happens) for 2 teams worthy of it - NOT 2 overrated and overhyped teams that will fail to make the world series

absolutely not.

Boston may have the best fans but they're also the most obnoxious, you would think their team won it all every year instead of it taking a million years to win the WS

Funny to listen to these west coast individuals try and convince themselves they live in a hotbed for sports when they have no ground to stand on.

The most admired team west of the Rockies very well could be the Cal-State Fullerton baseball team...............NUFF SAID.

True Story:

September 1991 - I am at Fenway sitting behind home plate in Peter Gammons' seats. Angels are at Fenway and leading 2-0 in B8. Bosux get runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. the angels' pitcher is a righhander facing a fellow rightie at the plate. Strike 1 - Strike 2 to the batter. i turn to my friend and say if the batter swings at this next pitch he will strike out for the pitcher will throw a 58-footer to the plate. sure enough he does - and sure enough the batter swings and misses - striking out. next batter is a lefty - so angels bring in a lefty. Strike 1 - Strike 2. i turn to my friend and say if the batter swings at the next pitch he will strike out for the pitcher will put this one outside the right handed batter's box. sure enough he does - and sure enough the batter swings and misses - striking out.

Some 80-ish-yea-old Blue-haired Grandma turns to me after the 2nd strikeout - aftert i stated EXACTLY what would happen and asks me if i am a Red Sox fan. I tell her I am not - I am just a fan of the game

She then gets really mad and says to me, "Good, then shut the F*ck up (and she said the word)."

I was too stunned and dumbfounded to react with another other than horror then uncontrolled laughter

for the record - angels won the game 2-0

I attended the USC-IOWA Orange Bowl game 3 years ago.............arrived at the stadium at noon for the the 8pm kick-off.

Having walked around the stadium a couple times in that 8 hour span, it wasn't untill about 9 miniutes before kick-off before finally seeing a fan wearing USC attire.

WHAT A JOKE!

LA cannot even support an NFL team for crying out loud!

I think harsh winters and/or alcohol consumption have alot to do with why fans on the west coast are so laid back when it comes to showing passion for their teams compared to their east coast conterparts.

Really wouldn't even consider myself in the top 50% of diehard Hawkeye fans.

Truth be known, I like 94% of sports teams...............and as I get older, I almost root more for players than teams..............and of course who my money is on.

West coast people are more into organic carrot juice than Budweiser...............which I can actually respect somewhat.

They haven't seen a snowflake in their lives most of them.

As a MidWesterner, far far away from both the East and West coasts, I would have to say that this series is not near bigger than the World Series. Will I still tune in? Yes.

But the World Series is much, much bigger than this series. Why? Because of the prize at the end. The Yanks-Red Sox series winner gets the playoffs. Hell, the loser might get the playoffs too if the Indians get swept. But the World Series gets the championship and those coveted rings. That is why it is better.

To the Red Sox and Yankee fans who think otherwise: Would you think a similar situation involving the Cubs and Cardinals(two big rivals with big fan bases and traditions) would be bigger than the world series also???

No, because as great as that rivalry is, it takes a HUGE backseat to the YANKS and RED SOX.

Cubsmac, yes the World Series is the biggest MLB event, however, I bet the ratings for this series is bigger than say a San Diego/Chicago WorlD Series....
