serious question here, and maybe I am idiot

SO if NY and Boston NEED a tiebreaker for the EAST CROWN....is the loser eliminated from the Wildcard. I mean Ok so NY/Bost are tied after this weekend.....But both their records are also tied with Cleveland at the end of the weekend.

Does this mean two tie breaker games??? One for the east, and then the loser plays clev for the wild card as well?? Two chances???

I missing something right???

Yup - loser plays in Cleveland for the last spot if all 3 tie. No home chance for Boston though which sucks.

WELL then last night GAME was MASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSIVE for the Redsox

They are looking strong for the playoffs!!!! You mean they win 2 of 3 from NY, and then they get two chances to win one game to get in!!!!

What are Boston's odds of just making the playoffs????? I am on it!!!

Chicago's victory reduced its magic number to one, clinching a tie for the AL Central title. But even if the Indians were to sweep the three-game set at Jacobs Field this weekend, thus clinching a playoff berth, the White Sox (96-63) would win the tiebreaker for the AL Central crown with an 11-8 edge in head-to-head play. The reason the White Sox and Indians wouldn't play a one-game playoff is because, with the Red Sox and Yankees playing each other this weekend, one team would be guaranteed to finish out of the playoffs if the Indians swept the White Sox. And in instances in which teams are guaranteed to make the playoffs, MLB does not use a one-game playoff, instead relying on head-to-head matchups to break the tie.
