The NFL won't hold a convention in Vegas because those immoral baddies allow their pure product to be bet on. A truly horrible thing is sports betting, is the line from the NFL nababs.

But it's clear that the NFL re-defines the term "dripping in hypocrisy."

They sponsor fantasy football. One must assume they have covered their eyes and do not see fantasy fans wagering on their contests.

And now we have a regular season NFL game being played in Mexico City on Sunday Night.

I suppose the NFL does not know that legal sports betting is pandemic in Mexico. Has been for over 15 years. There are hundreds of sportsbooks all over the country.

They all receive the NFL Sunday Ticket (or just steal it from DirecTV, like everyone else south of the border does). The books, some of them quite plush, are a great place to down some good Mexican beers and root for your team - the one you just bet at a nearby window.

(Tho Mexico is a bad place money-wise to bet - the govt takes 1 1/2% of the win part of each successful bet,and a full 2 % of the entire horse racing payback.)

I would bet a dollar to a peso (worth less than a dime) that within a few blocks of the stadium where the game will be played, there is a book doing business.

In fact, as I once lived in Mexico, the land of sombra y sol - shadow and sun - it would not surprise me if legal booking will be going on INSIDE the stadium where the Cards and Niners will do their thing. You know, halftime betting.

Of course, the NFL, the modern version of the See No Evil monkeys, know nothing of this. Head NFL simian, Paul Tagliabue, said during a halftime interveiw at a Mexico City NFL preseason game a few years ago that one dayt there may be a franchise in Mexico.

If that comes about, perhaps Pete Rose can show up for the inaugural season and throw out the first bet.
