The EVIL Empire will be lamenting losing the last game of the season and HFA to the angels because the angels WILL BEAT The Evil Empire in the ALDS! WILL! the angels have the best record of ANY AL team against the Evil Empire over the last handful of years and with a rested pitching staff - and better - angels show 2002's alds was NO FLUKE and send the Evil Empire home by this time next week. THIS IS MY FAVE PLAY OF THE FIRST ROUND AND THE ONE I LOVE THE MOST!

In the battle of Sox, White is better and defense and pitching usually wins in the playoffs and White beats Red

in the nl - there are 3 constants in life - death, taxes and the braves choking in the post-season. astros have pettitte, clemens and oswalt - good enough for me. astros beat the braves

padres finished with the worst-ever record for a playoff team. cards finished with the best record and haven't played a meaningful game since May. Cards -360/Padres +320 is the series price. i'll take a shot here with SD and hope it goes 5 then i get Peavy against Carpenter - and i'll take my chances

Playing the Padres at that price is well worth the shot. I live in St Louis and I am a Cardinal fan, but... and there always is a but in life, this pitching staff (starters and relievers) have not pitched well the last few weeks. Maybe it doesn't mean alot since they have not really played in a meaningful game in quite some time now. LaRussa pet Matt Morris will get a start and has not looked good for a long time. Lefties out of the pen could be a real problem. Ray King has been god awful all year. If La Russa chooses to go with him in key situation (and he will), Cards could be in trouble.
If pitching comes thru, Cards could sweep. But a series wager on the Padres at the price is not a bad beat.

Hey winky and friends.... Been watching these dough boys play all year and have been capping the games for a good run.. Im no expert by all means but I do see some good numbers here...

First: Peavy for the padres has a era of about 2 while the cardinal pitchers have been around 5 all last month.. Ive heard that they have been pitching alot of innings while peavy has been on 11 days rest. I see padres pulling the first game out with +170. I have the under since padres have a hard time scoring runs and others scoring on them.. under 7.5..

Angels: Colon battles Mussina.. Mussina gives up to many runs in the playoffs and recently in regular games.. Colon will give up 3 at the most but the yankees will be giving up 7.. I see value at +183 1.5 run line here.....if this was Randy Johnson Id go with the under...

Im still looking at the red sox white sox game.. im leaning towards the red sox to cover easy.. they get alot of runs yet the whitesox have been struggling to get much offense.. maybe boston on the run line but the white sox have more then their average of one run games. so the run line I have a hard time betting here..

any thoughts or comments.. maybe something im over looking??

Cash, I don't think any Cardinal starter has gone more than 6 innings in the last two weeks. They all are rested but have not thrown that great in recent outings. Cards have lost Carpenters last three starts but it is for real again on Tuesday.

Anytime you have a staff like the Pades, anything can happen in a short series. Sd's pitching, when on, is good. They could give the Cards fits. SD is certainly worth a shot.

I forgot to add one thing... Padres love right handed pitching better then left.. carpenter is right and will see an agressive hitting team in the padres and they do hit better on the road then at home.. adding some more on the ML for the pauds..

3-1 including a BB win good for about a 2.5 unit profit - and for me a tad more since i only put 1/2 unit on the Padregs (thank goodness)
