CANNOT stress this enough, especially to those who are foolish enough to EVER pay for a tout service!

NEVER be convinced somebody knows what the hell they are doing even if they put up a 4-0 day, a 22-8 week, a 98-32 month, or even a 974-822 year!!!!!

Sportsbetting is a GRIND with a capital G and VERY VERY VERY few have the knowledge to select 53%+ for their lifetimes.

All of these W-L records do not even take into account line shopping, money management, etc., etc., etc.

All this AND you want to pay somebody for picks????

There are a few good people out there that can provide 53+% on their selections but to save you time and energy finding them, AND saving you money you have to give them(which means they will have to hit better than 53% for you to net a profit).................JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND RIGHT NOW THAT YOU WILL NEVER....N-E-V-E-R pay for a selection.

BE YOUR OWN PERSON, NOT ONLY WILL YOUR POCKETBOOK THANK YOU, BUT YOU will have the gratitude of knowing you did it yourself.

Enjoy sportsbetting, don't ever let it control you and your life.

If you check your bank account, you will see that none of them cleared.

Thats because I tore them all up and shredded them in the paper shredder.

Keep your money!

Fish,

While I agree with the idea that paying for a decent tout is probably based a lot more on empty promises, lets be honest here. The average guy, if left to his own devices, will pick under 50%. It is 100% true, most people would almost be better off using darts than their own minds to make picks. People make the same silly mistakes, they are victims of emotions and bad judgement. They trust what they see on TV too much or what they hear from other sources. Being their own man could quite possibly be the worst thing they can do. They are well intentioned, but they just never will 'get' it.

For this vast majority I think using a reputable service may not be a bad idea. It can 'save' them money over a lifetime. Yes you are right, people should not take it too seriously, but they do. If most people could stop taking it so seriously and just accept modest losses the sports betting world would be a very shallow and staid place. In a way we should thank these people.

In any case my argument is simple. If you understand it probably doesn't make you a lifetime winner, go ahead and use a service if you want to bet decent coin. Understand how much paying for picks eats into any profits you might pick up. Better yet, follow some of the decent handicappers for free on here or around the net. But if you insist on paying, understand its limitations. Fact is most of the people that need this advice will not even be here reading this.

Very good points WB, and have had the same thoughts myself.

My main point is that individuals can certainly find plenty of winners without paying to do so.

Also, the main jest of the thread is never overreact to somebodys shortterm record, be they a tout or not.

In these forums somebody goes 20-4 and many posters think they are invincible handicappers .......and on the otherside of the coin, somebody may go on a bad run of say something like 9-33 and individuals will think that individual is a terrible handicapper.
