I spent $300 at Fry's (big techie store out West) yesterday, mostly on a computer monitor. When I went to buy a $300 LCD TV after that at Walmart Chase decided my 9 dime credit limit be damned, they were cutting off my account until I called them and verified it. WTF???

Over this last weekend I spent $500 on Suns tickets online, bought the LCD Chase denied, bought about $300 worth of clothes, two tanks of gas, and two restaurant meals with my Citibank card and not a peep out of them.

What kind of crap is Chase giving me? Anyone else have the same thing happen? I pay all my cards off each month, would have paid cash for this stuff if I had planned to buy them in advance. I called them tonight and they insist its for my protection, but it happened in my own hometown at two stores I do plenty of shopping at. Why bother having cards if I can't spend under a dime on them?

Something must have set off a fraud alarm with them, but you're right.....it sounds VERY premature.

About Chase.
I have their card and have had for a couple of years. Yet I continue to receive mail ads from them (Frankie Carter) asking me to open an account. I called them and they said it was just their advertizing dept. But I continue to get the promotions from them and others. Few weeks ago, I called the toll free number to be removed from ALL such ads. Then get a credit card in the mail from Chase Circuit City. (I paid off the old Circuit City card a LONG time ago before it was even Chase, and told them....I did not want a card. Yet I get one in the mail. Before using it it says required to call the number to verify.)
I really dislike Chase....but most all these big card companies are terrible!

Do not like all their ads but:

The Chase card I use rebates 5% for gas, groceries and medicine.
1% for everything else.

If their is a better rebate program I would switch.

Two-Card;
I din't know they offered rebates. Do you get this rebate even if you pay the balance each month? (Not that this matters much for me as Chase is the only Credit card that I do have a balance with that I'm trying to get paid down.)

Watch em

They would say my payment was late and raise my rates. Funny thing is that check cleared before payment due. Class act bussiness.

$300 LCD TV at WALMART

thats the real fraud!

Actually I am quite pleased with this purchase. Just something to put on my computer desk to keep up with the action.

Yeah--I like Walmart also---but be CAREFULL with their prices.

For instance yesterday--i see Campbell's Chunky Soup on a huge display as a special in one of their Super Stores ($1.72 per can)
Same afternoon in Food Lion---Same Soup---4 cans for $5.00 ($1.25 per can).

Walmart can be a tricky one.

whoson1st....I have a Chase PerfectCard that gives me 3% off gas and 1% everywhere else. I also payoff by balance each month and still get the cash back. They credit your account the following month with the cashback you earned the month before. Very easy to use. I usually get back a couple hundred dollars a year.

They just came out with a new rewards card that gives you the 5% back on gas and groceries too. I have a Citibank card that gives me that too but you have to wait until you get $50 in rebates before you can get a check. Comes in handy though especially with the price of gas today.

It is a 15 inch Sanyo, pretty nice picture too. I did my shopping on this was at Best Buy and Frys during the day and while in Walmart to do other shopping took a look at them. The prices were the best at the low end. I couldn't fit any bigger on the desk so it works out well. Now I don't have to turn and squint to watch TV or a game when I am getting work done. As long as you can concentrate I highly recommend this setup.

patswin<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_2220460", true); </SCRIPT> is correct. "They just came out with a new rewards card that gives you the 5% back on gas and groceries too. A wife and two grand-daughters have no problem getting the rebate thresh-hold. CC bill is paid in full every month.

Good info to know--As soon as I get this card paid off--I'll ask them for that card. In the mean time--I don't use this card at all.
