How often do you sit at an on-line poker table where a terrible player is handing his money over, only to have them leave because other players are berating them or telling them how bad they are. I've never understood that, nobody wants to be made the fool, let the guy have his fun and give you his money. I lost to a guy last night that sucked out a win on a hand he was completely dominated on. I told him nice hand and ballsy bet, instead of calling him a complete idiot, I had his whole stack inside of 15 more minutes of play. He re-loaded and left after repeatedly being called an idiot by others. Some people like to play for fun and its their money, let them spend it how they want, its not only rude but its foolish if you're a so-called "player" that you would chase inferior competition away when you're playing for money.

Good point. It is hard to control ones own emotions. To most people, feeling self-superior and arrogant is more important than coldly and methodically taking $. I guess that is what separates those that can make it as pro gamblers from the ameteurs.

Great post. When a guy calls your preflop raise with 45o and sucks out the gutshot straight on the river to beat your pocket aces, bite your tongue and move on to the next hand. Use the note taking feature to label him a fish. One of the steps to becoming a disciplined winning poker player.

You'll probably find most of the beraters are big losers who can't understand why they can't win after reading some poker book. The guy you're talking about is probably more likely to win than his attackers because he's unpredictable. Gotta love all these players that play so few hands and then tell you what they have when they do play one.

I have a slightly different opinion on the subject. I know i am not perfect, and when i get a really bad beat by a complete moron on a huge hand, i will have no problem calling the player a moron. If he leaves, so be it. There are more than 1 fish in the pond. Heck, there are probably 2 or 3 others at the same table. I dont know about you guys but when someone calls a 100 dollar bet on the river with just an inside straight draw and hits a miracle card, my thoughts aren't always directed to towards rational thinking.

And from my experience, simply calling a player a moron will not cause him to get up and leave. Half the time the player is proud of his call and the other half of the time the player wasn't a moron at all.

I do agree that there is never a reason to constantly berate a player.

My biggest pet peeve are the players that are beating the crap out of a fish that is losing. Even worse are the players that try to teach the fish and explain concepts like pot odds.

Honestly, can you guys really say that you have never called a player a moron or lost your cool playing poker? that is truly impressive

After you have played thousands of hours playing poker, you realize it comes with the territory and getting mad about it only makes it worse. I have trained myself to become completely numb to bad beats.
