Ok the DMV here in hickshit South Carolina is really starting to piss me off.

In SC we have to pay a property tax on our vehicle BEFORE we can renew our registration. So I go to pay the ripoff tax of 150.00 and they tell me my registration is suspended. Apparently I was 2 days late on an insurance payment and because the DMV is hooked into the insurance databases this is reported immediately. The DMV supposedly charges 5.00 for every day you are uninsured. Now mind you, I never get into accidents or anything. TOTAL BULL$HIT!

SOOO I go to call the DMV, long distance mind you and the line is busy.

I really need to move, I can't take this $hit.

Pretty sure its the same in almost every state, and same with the insurance 150 dollar +5 a day penalty...

And the DMV workers have to be about the least pleasant human beings in the country.

The 150.00 is a vehicle tax you have to pay every year. Nothing to do with the insurance. That in it of itself is a ripoff.

Now I am supposed to go drive to the dmv office with an expired tag?

Ok, I did read that...here though in MD. if you are one day past late and your insurance in cancelled it is a $150 fine and 5 bucks for everyday you don't turn in your tags.

insurance is a ripoff, those that never use it, should get something back.

I don't like insurance , either, but it's needed ! I drove with no insurance about 20+ years ago. Insurance compensates the innocent victim, it is necessary. Don't use it, you should get better rates !

It's kinda hard to pay the insurance premium late here in Va. The bill comes 6 WEEKS before it's due . Plus the insurance broker sends a seperate notice that the bill is coming. The funny part is that the dollar figures NEVER match on the fee. (then about 2 weeks later the broker sends a new statement telling me there has been a change to policy....which is allways a dollar figure MATCHING what the insurance company allready said the fee was.)

TOOOO many people involved.

I think everyone has been F'ed by the DMV...

Earlier this year i switched vehicles and went to a DMV mini office to switch tags...two months later I get a letter from DMV saying my tags were never turned in...and if I didn't prove they were I would be fined heavily...

So, I go back to the min DMV place the guy has basically a shoebox full of receipts and he can't find mine!!! I knew i did exactly what was required and the man had lousy record keepping...so, i go to the mainDMV office and explain I did exactly what i was suppose to do, she says to me "well, we're not responsible for what they do with your tags"...of course by now I was livid, and figured i was going to be screwed...

After a couple weeks of constantly calling around the guy from the mini DMV office was able to find out what happened...

The mother F'in DMV made a clerical typo error and entered in my returned tags a year previous by typing in the wrong date!

of course the DMV did not apologize and I had to waste my own time trying to figure out their mistake.

I was working at a church day camp quite a few years back that was run by a friend of mine. He wanted me to drive the bus for the kids. So I study for the California exam and get an appointment for my driving test.

When I show up I am told that they can't see me. The reason for this is because they schedule 3 appointments for every 2 slots available since they regularly get cancellations. If all 3 people show up, 1 person gets left out and has to come back at another time.

As much as I hate to use the word "LAWSUIT". This sounds like it would be eligible, if THAT policy is in writing and you did not misunderstand what a clerk said. (people take off work etc to do this stuff.!!)
