49ers have been money at home in preseason and regular season so far. But this is a major mismatch. First, 49ers will be breaking in rookie quarterback in first start going against a defense who has been best in league not giving up more than 10 pts in any game. Second, no rivalry or bad blood to pump up 49ers. Third, their secondary is down to 2nd and 3rd stringers vs Big 3 of Colts is going to be comical as they could not stop McCown,Fitzgerald,Bouldin, and Johnson how are they going to stop this team with a hungry Manning looking to build up his stats from a slow start to the year. Fourth, prior to this game, 49ers have not given up less than 25 points in any game so far. Last, in game in Wk 2 vs similar caliber team in Philadelphia Eagles and got outclassed and pummeled by a 42-3 score. This will be a very similar game. I don't like to lay 14 in NFL but this one is too good to pass up. Any thoughts?

I havent layed points like this since 1990 when SF was favored by somewhere around 20 lol was back in 1990 vs Cincy!

in all seriousness the Colts should pummel this team by 35 easily!

Is Rattay starting? either QB will be eaten alive by Indy's now very aggressive defense.

Certainly appears to be the case. Then I thought the Colts would maul the Browns too.

pokerkingjim,

Difference in between this one and that one is Browns Crennel had plenty of success in knowing how to scheme Manning from days with Patriots. Nolan has no success with days with Ravens vs Manning. Also, 49ers defense is completely banged up in all areas including secondary and best player Peterson. This will be ugly!

Indy didn't seem too interested in running up the score against Cleveland when they had a chance too. Laying MORE than 14 points isn't something I'd be too keen on. I can picture. them up 31-17 in the waning minutes only to stop a drive on the opponent's 5 once again.

Dwight Freeney (I think i got his name right) is going to have a field day with Alex Smith.

I'd like to see a stat how many teams favored by 14 or more points the last 35 years have covered...

+14 points in the NFL seems it would more often than not lose...its just hard to lay that much on any NFL big favorite.

Kojak- do you think 14 point favorites cover the spread more often than not over the past 35 years?

This will be a 42-3 game. The 49ers starting left tackle is hurt and will not play. Does anyone want to guess who the Colts right defensive end is? Dwight Freeney. :lolBIG: I cant believe that the 49ers are staring Alex Smith in this situation. I dont play alot of NFL, but this seems to be cant miss especially putting the Colts in your teasers.

jman,

If you reread my original post in this thread, I don't like to lay this kind of number in NFL. This game is one where it is merited. It opened at 11.5 and went up to 14.5/15. I am mainly a dog player or playing favs of less than 3 pts in NFL so for me to step up on a game like this tells you how much of a mismatch this really is.

I'm not sure the 49ers can even score, Smith did take a lot of snaps with the first team but we all know how NFL rookie QB's fare in their first starts...

LOL-Look at what Arizona did last sunday night passing on this team.

INDY 45-6

People will take -15 and then they WILL bitch when Indy is up 14 and takes 4 knees from the SF 2 yard line in the last 2 minutes.

If Indy can only score 13 point vs. Cleveland (at home), I'm sure as hell not laying 15 on the road vs. ANY Nfl team.

ttinco,

Cleveland is not a fair assessment imo. Coach Crennel has always had a ton of success with his schemes vs Manning while in New England. Colts will win this game easily as 49ers can't score and going up vs best defense. Defensive td's may cover this game alone!

Looks to easy

Anyone remember week one Stl and San Fran. I know SF is banged up but looks to easy and in the NFL if it looks to good to ture it most likely is.
