Amazing, Macha giving up a managerial job with no apparent job automatically available....the A's have a nice team...

This is a surprise even if there are several possibilities out there, its not like Macha is an automatic choice somewhere else.

Au Contraire (sp?). Talk here in Pittsburgh has been about Macha since long before McClendon was fired. Macha is a western Pa boy and I would imagine the Pittsburgh job will be his if he wants it and they can agree on money.

Especially now that Leyland went to Detroit. He was the other big name being thrown around a lot. Jim Tracy's name has come up a good bit too. Art Howe is another one though not as much. Pirates have said they are going to hire somebody with experience from outside of the organization.

Felt he was being disrespected by not getting a contract extension. Macha probably told them he wanted an extensaion/raise, they said no, he told them to stick it. Was pretty common knowledge that there was a very good chance Macha wouldn't be back with the A's next year.

Correct Pittsburgh is the rumor and money was the issue....just seems hard to believe you walk from a team that had a nice yr...

Th A's will replace him with a no name as Billy Beane doesn't want to take a back seat to anyone....
