I am sure this has been tossed around a good bit before but...How sad is it that the only way you can get the sunday ticket package is to get DirecTV? For as popular and as huge as the NFL is, quite often you sit down on Sunday at 1:00 and get ONE GAME shown. At the very most you get 3 games total for the 2 time slots and quite often you get 1 at 1:00 and 1 at 4:00. How ridiculous is that? The superpower that is the NFL offers Pit-Hou as the only game on at 1:00 here in eastern Ohio a few weeks back. This week I check the listings and the only 1:00 game available is Chicago and Cleveland. Forgive me if I find something else to do. To get the Sunday Ticket, you have to get DirecTV which is not available to all (I live in apartments and can not get it - and it shouldn't be monopolized like that anyways). Last week Fox had to show every last second of the blowout giants-rams game, all the way to the final kneel downs, even though niether is a local team. All this while KC-Philly had started (was near the end of the 1st quarter by the time the giants game was over). What kind of crap is that? I know DirecTV and the NFL renewed their contract last year and it's total BS. To this I say :finger: NFL. I would much rather watch college football on saturdays with the gameplan that I can get on CABLE instead of watching the borefest that is Chicago-Cleveland. I think I'd rather eat broken glass.

I'd like to say that I wouldn't just out of spite - the whole sunday ticket monopoly is ridiculous. But whomever over there at directv convinved the nfl to deal only with them is a genius. How many customers do they have that got directv for the sunday ticket alone? A ton. And I would probably be another one if I could. I blame the NFL, not directv. I can see myself now turning on a couple TV's on sunday afternoons with the remote ready to go (spare batteries on hand). Not a single commercial would be watched all day long. I occassionally have wet dreams over it.

I would love to see the bargaining and contract for that deal.

Can you imagine the potential customers out there with cable?

I'm buying a FTA receiver today on Ebay so I could hook it up to my "Dish" dish. Will give me about 11 local markets and can create my own NFL ticket.

Fat Tony - I have the Pansat receiver.

Let me tell you a few things about it. Recently, they have made it harder and harder to get channels - you have to input a code every couple of days and there is no guide, you have to find things yourself.

You can do what you want to do by doing your own "sunday ticket" but it can be tricky. I have a toroidal dish pointed at 3 satellites. You cant point at Directv and get their programming.

Screw Direct TV and the NFL. Not right that they keep something like this from consumers. Imagine the money they could make on a MLB.com type situation. They could get away with charging a significantly higher premieum than baseball as well.

But if you point to Dish Network and get their programming on their "Bird", I can get about 11 locals stations. (LA, Denver, Atlanta etc.) There's usually is enough to get all the games. Dish is working with the FTA receivers. (110 and 119.) Just download the software.

Was going to get the Viewsat 2000 Platinum receiver that just came out.
