USC keeps struggling versus mediocre to good range Pac 10 opponents. But the media fawns all over them and USC seems to have big heads. The pac 10 is a notoriously poor defensive conference. I would like to see what would happen if they played at a tough defensive team ( Alabama, Penn St, Florida St etc). Teams that have their own history and won't be intimidated by them and will smash them in the mouth and see how they respond.

nobody is interested in talking about this? are we all watching USA-Costa Rica? Braves-Astros? This is still America right? its football season.

What would happen if USC had to play a team with a strong defense on the road? Florida is nowhere near as good as USC, but just as a conversation piece, when Florida played at Albama they got CRUSHED. Could USC go into Tuscaloosa and win?

I've mentioned a few times that it would be nice to see USC against a top notch defense. They won't face one in the regular season this year. USC doesn't look soft to me. Their D isn't the best but it's good enough - and the offense is clearly the best in the country. They would be favored against any team in the country, even on the road. But they aren't THAT good where they would waltz over those teams you spoke of. They would have their hands full at Bama, Ohio St, Va Tech among others. Ok maybe they would waltz over FSU :103631605

It's odd to say that they struggled, and won by 21. Certainly they didn't cover, but 42-21 isn't on obvious struggle. Are they infallible? No. But they have won every game by DD.

yeah, they did well late. they keep doing that. not so sure that at a Penn St or Alabama or Florida St they would get away with playing a bad half then a good half and winning the game

It's the Trojans world, we are just livin in it. Cal would punk most of the teams you mentioned above.

I don't think they're soft but they have been "overrated" spread-wise. Speaking of that, what's USC at ND gonna be? I thinking somewhere beetwen USC -7 and -10. Maybe -8 or so?

Cal? Just like they punked Texas Tech huh. USC is thebest team in the country but fortunately for them they don't have another top notch team in their conference.

Let me think .... Kinda like Oklahoma's great defense was supposed to stop USC last year ? Give me a break ! USC will repeat in a walk.. Biggest threat as usual is in the Pac 10 ! Rest of the Nation .... take a ticket as you should not even be invited to the National Championship game but somebody has to appear ...right ! LOL

It's very simple. This team has so much talent that they have trouble getting up for games that they could win in their sleep. Similar to UNC basketball last year. Soft? What? They are anything but soft, but the sense of urgency isn't there much of the time. They are a machine when the pressure is on. They would also beat Fla St by 17, and will beat ND by 14. Penn St would give them the best game, imo.

florida st laid an egg today and buried me. the offensive line has become a major concern. too much pressure on the fsu qb's. fsu defense played poorly. overall it was their worst performance this season. that said, as an fsu fan, we will play anyone, anywhere, anytime. we are not imtimidated by anyone. I have no doubt playing miami away every 2 years as we do is a tougher game than USC on a neutral field this year. USC is arrogant. They would be in for a rude awakening.

maybe most people would like to sing USC's praises as an unbeatable team which turns it on at will. I think they are vulnerable. If Florida St gets to the rose bowl and plays USC, I'll have to e-mail fishhead ( I trust him) all off my account numbers and passwords at sportsbooks because if I can bet on such a matchup I will go BERSERK, way overboard. I won't be able to stop myself from going nuts on the amount I bet on Florida St and on the money line.

Not saying I'm going to win these bets, just saying I'll go overboard and nobody should do that. Florida St +13? I will go crazy. +17? Oh my GOD!

They are a damn good team, that's for sure. But Penn St would have a good chance against Texas and Va Tech, and there's nobody else that can beat USC. So yeah, they might lose by DD, but they have as good a shot as anyone.

Mr Smith- FSU would look like Oklahoma did last year. In a title game, USC would get up, just like UNC in the tournament last year. They would have no chance. But you are a great fucking fan, I admire it.

I know exactly where Florida St is compared to their great teams of the nineties. I'm not saying where that is exactly, but I know. Its not as good a rating as it was this morning thats for sure.

I may not have a good grip on where USC is, but I know where FSU is. And I am downgrading FSU. I saw some stuff from them today I REALLY didnt like. After that performance, they have some holes. They also have time to get better.

I have them at 20-1 to win it all. after today, I would sell rather than buy more. the talent they have at the offensive skill positions is off the charts and I have seen their great and almost great teams, but its never been this good all at once. They have had better individual players ( Javon Walker, Warrick Dunn, Anquan Boldin, etc) but never so much together all at once. And they will almost all be back next year. FSU is young.

they figure to fall short of making the title game this year. I aint conceding nuthin, but that is reality. They could make the rose bowl this year, but I won't hold my breath. :toast:

ANY team that gives up 21 (and not in garbage time) to Arizona is not the #1 team. After watching today i put texas as a pick in the championship game (if they get by the Golden domers and the Bruins that is)...
