Family Just Called Me From St. Louis To Tell Me That Local News Is Reporting Mike Martz Is Out As Head Coach Of The St. Louis Rams And That Jimmy Johnson Will Be The Next Head Coach. I Am Trying To Confirm Wondering If Someone Else Has Heard Anything On This?

In the middle of the season? That would have the be one of the strangest things I've ever heard. I don't even know if that's allowed according to NFL rules.

if they let a coach quit mid-season (dave suckstant) then they could fire a coach mid-season.

From What I Can Tell All Of This Is A Rumor And Nothing Has Been Confirmed By Me. But This Does Tell Me Being From St. Louis That This Might Finally Be Martz Last Year In St. Louis.

I know they have rules against tampering, that's why coaches like Marvin Lewis and Romeo Crennel got fucked over for head coaching jobs for so long, because they weren't allowed to be interviewed during the playoffs, so teams would hire other coaches before Lewis and Crennel were allowed to interview.

I don't know if this applies for the regular season or if they even interviewed Johnson, but I know that up until last year, assistant coaches of teams in the playoffs weren't allowed to interview for other head coaching jobs in the NFL. College is a different story.

I know they can FIRE their current coach. But someone already on the staff would have to take over.

I Agree If Martz Was Fired Or Stepped Down Due To Health Reason, Jimmy Johnson Is Too Smart To Accept Job In Midstream. Another Coach Would Definitely Take Over For The Rest Of The Season. I Know There Have Been Some Problems In Front Office For Quite Some Time So If This Is True It Would Not Surprise Me As It Also Seems This Rams Team Has Quit On Martz. If He Isn't Fired Or Stepped Down, I Expect It To Happen After This Season.
