I Thought I Would Start A Thread For Cardinals Backers On Their March To The World Series. Divisional Series Went Exactly As I Thought With Cardinals Winning Over Padres In A Sweep. Now We Get Arch Rival Houston Astros In A Rematch Of Last Year's National League Championship Series. Both Teams Will Have Their Rotations Set Up To Their Liking With Everyone Healthy Including Pettitte For Astros And Carpenter And New Addition Mulder For The Cardinals. Cardinals Won Season Series 11-5 Losing Last 2 Meaningless Games At Home To Astros During Final Week Of The Season. This Is The Way It Should Be As They Are The Two Best Teams In Baseball. The Winner Of This Series Imo Will Win It All This Year. Astros Will Be Looking To Revenge Ly Loss To Cardinals While Cardinals Have Chip On Their Shoulder To Get Back And Prove They Are The Best Team In Baseball And Win World Series. I Had Predicted Earlier Cardinals Would Win Nlcs In 5 Games And Going To Pull Back And Say They Will Win This Series In 6 Games As I Respect This Astros Team Enough To Say Cards Will Not Win It In Houston. There Will Be A Lot Of Tight Games In This Series And Expect Homefield To Reign Once Again In This One As Cardinals Win Games 1 And 2, Astros Take 3 And 5 With Cards Getting Game 4 In Houston And Coming Back And Winning It In Game 6. Should Be A Great Series. Looking Forward To It!

Kojak,

You know I am rooting with you, as I have the Cardinals to win the NL from much earlier in the season. I think that this one goes 6 or 7 games, but the Cardinals offense will just be too much for the Astros. Should be a great series!

Still cannot believe the Astros made it all the way back when you think about it...

They lose Beltran who they tried to keep but in the end just couldn't afford, when they lost him and Kent you had to figure this would be a transition year at best...

The Cardinals should take care of Houston though, I think last years Astros team was slightly better overall.

STL should win in 6 (I will be pulling for Hou though)

Go Cards

Astros are done. 18 inning 7 runs tells the whole story. Game one is going to be my biggest play of the Year on the Cards. After the ninth inning of yesterdays game Houston faced bad pitching and took them 9 innings to score one run. Look for the Cards to come out swinging and the Astros to be lame at the plate. Houston fans party while you can because in a week you will be force to watch the Texans. Whose season has already ended with a perfect 0-5 record. Yes HOUSTON TEXANS in 2005 is my new Bumber sticker!!

Never had one. Did lose Game 1 though. :sad3:
Okay, good. I just remember you talking awhile back about how your mouth was watering to unload on the Padres at over +300. Glad you didn't do it.

illini, you're thinking of me. i had the pads +323. i also have the angels +134...should have cashed it last night. still feel pretty good with burrito colon going tonight against a rivera-less yankee team.

fwiw, i like the cards in this series...how can you not with the studs on that team and the fact that the astros used every card in the deck to get past the bravos yesterday. i just bet the pads because i was getting +323 and anything can happen in a short series. san diego definately had their chances to make it a series...especially in gm 2.

I was going to do it, but the way the odds worked out it made more sense to play the game when I got +194.

It's hard not to like Houston +155 in Game 1. Pettite has been rock solid for more than 3 months, hasn't given up more than 3 runs in 21 starts. 1.68 ERA over that span. Carpenter ended up getting it done in Game 1 but anyone who saw that game knows he didn't bring all that much and was rather fortunate in the results. His velocity was down. He may very well get away with it again but I don't think it's worth the risk at those odds against this opponent. STL has a much better lineup though.

Also, STL biggest threat Pujols hasn't done much 2 singles in 12 AB's vs. Pettite.

Houston wins 1st Game 4-2.
