The conventional wisdom on the ALCS game 1 is easy. The well rested Chicago White Sox, behind a super hot jose contreras, will light up the Angels tonight. The angels are playing the third game in 48 hours, taking 2 cross country flights in between. So they will be tired & will not show up to play.
So many people believe this, 70% are on the ChiSox at the wagerline consensus.
I don't buy this conventional wisdom for a moment. First, the Angels bullpen did not play many pitchers last night. If Byrd doesn't have it, there's other pitchers to take the mound. Byrd doesn't suck like Clement. Second, It's not a sure thing Contreras will pitch well tonight. Contreras is 0-2 6.75 ERA lifetime vs. Halos. He's 7-5 at home, not 11-2. Three, The offenses are evenly matched. they both suck.
Other than public perception, & the potential of the starting pitching, nothing on the field justifies the heavy juice on the favorite. However, a close game, with either side winning by a run in the ninth inning or later, this i can believe.
Take Angels +1.5 (-115) good luck! :103631605
