The more I look at Houston tonight, the more I like them.

I'm just not sold on Carpenter being the better pitcher here tonight at all....

Houston has played better baseball than St.Louis since June, they have big game Andy Pettitte on the hill tonight, Pettitte has great numbers vs the Cards lifetime 27 IP a 1.67 ERA in his career vs STL, in his last 8 regular season starts Pettitte gave up a total of 9 runs! The Astros come into this game with atleast the same amount of momentum as STL... and have the better current pitcher.

STL has not been tested in some time, SD was a joke in RD 1 , Carpenter looked very average in his one start...in his final 4 starts of regular season he gave up 22 runs in 22 innings, and also lost to the Astros in his final regular season start...his curveball was awful , his location was awful vs SD, they just didn't get any clutch hits, he was very hittable that day, as he was the entire month.

Pujols and Edmonds are a combined 5-42 vs Pettitte lifetime...

I feel these teams are pretty even offensively in this spot, and Houston has the pitching edge...

scary jman, those are almost all the angles I was thinking about when I played Houston tonight. Here's another: St.Louis playoff record in the last 3 years under LaRussa: 10-8, and that's after the SD cakewalk this year. I don't like LaRussa as a big favorite under pressure, despite what they did to the Pads this year

Hopefully great minds think alike on this one....

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Yeah there are a lot of things pointing to Houston however one big thing that cannot be overlooked is home field. St. Louis being at home with a crazy atmosphere. Houston is not a very good road team but is a strong home team.

St. Louis is 6-2 against Houston at home this year. Both losses came late in September when St. Louis was basically cruising.

That is basically why I am staying away from this one.

All the games between these two teams though have been pretty close. Houston +1.5 is interesting.
