What a huge mistake by the home plate umpire. Hope it won't be the difference in the series.

not so much the home plate umpire's fault as the others...they should've had a conference and over turned his call...he can't see if it hit the ground or not...very heads up play by AJ to run to first!!! Give him credit!

Well in extra innings they are at a pretty big disadvantage anyway so most likely they would not have won it anyway

Yeah, they did appeal to the 3rd base umpire, and he wouldn't overturn it. Kind of difficult to overturn it after all that, especially since you really couldn't tell for sure from over 100 feet away. It's just too bad that it worked out like this. But......the series is far from over and both teams are gonna have to put it behind them and control their own destiny. No excuses. Just like it wasn't Bartman's fault the Cubs lost. Shake it off and play ball. But I know the umpires will be sick if the White Sox win in 7 games, just because of the what if questions, and the fact that the media will talk about this forever.

really have to give a :103631605 to AJ in the situation. He could've walked to the dugout but went ahead and ran to 1st...very heads up....many would've jsut turned for the dugout!!...worked out for him!!!

I just watched some MLB umpire official on ESPN say that he's watched it a bunch of times and the best he could come up with is "inconclusive". He must have been watching a different replay than I was, cuz the replay I saw that ball was clearly caught. Too bad no one in MLB will ever have the stones to admit it.

The Angels' catcher should've tagged the batter before tossing the ball back to the mound, just to be sure.

The ump should've answered questions by himself and admitted he blew it instead of sending that supervisor of umpires bozo to act as his lawyer.

I agree, when he saw A.J running to first he should have thrown down there, or tagged him right away. But as a Chicago Fan, I was pleased by the out come..........:103631605

He was sure, thats why he didn't do it. No way the ball hit the ground because no dirt/dust kicked up.
