After I catch every strikeout the rest of the series, I'm going to smack the hitter in the back with my glove, then I'm going to eyeball Doug Eddings.

 I would soooo frickin do this if I was him! Doubt this umpiring crew will be working any of the upcoming games for this series though! They might get killed in Anaheim! Seriously! Well, that or at least booed really loud at and called dirty names. :lolBIG: Either or. All I now is they better beware the killer rally :monkey: because I saw him after the game and he looked pissed!!

all he needed to do was tag the guy catchers do it all the time on 3rd strikes even though they caught the ball, it is to avoid this situation. Same as a a guy might hold up a ball he snow-coned, even though you know you caught it you want to see the ump make the call before you throw the ball away. Paul couldn't have seen the ump make the call he had his back to him and threw the ball away without looking at him

Maybe the ump shouldnt have waited till the catcher was in the dugout before he made the drop ball call... He had his paycheck on the sox for the game....

Maybe he shouldn't have run in the dugout until he heard the ump call Pryzinski out.

If the ump called him out, why did AJ run to first?

And how did the catcher see the ump call an out when he never even looked back ? A good catcher in that spot would have tagged the batter, even if he caught it, because he is blocking the ump's view of the play and it is the 9th inning of a tie playoff game you better make sure before you throw away the ball

If that's true then every catcher should tag every runner if the ball is lower than the knees, just to be sure.

if the umps view is blocked why would he be calling a dirt ball if he didnt see it? the pitcher needs to make the call to the catcher or th eump needs to make a call no catch in which he didnt...He made the drop ball call after the batter turned around and looked at him. clearly 3-4 secs after the called out...

The Angels catcher is a 3rd-stringer!! He should be the last one taking stuff/calls like that for granted. Tossed the ball back out to the mound like he was the man, which I'll admit might have been cuz he was so pumped up just to even be in a game like this as he had only been in for 1 inning, and that inexperience cost him and the Angels the play and ultimately the win. Crede still got the hit to win it so it's not like they lost just on that play but yeah it didn't help. :lolBIG: So in the end the play and the call sucked for the Angels :icon_conf , kicked ass for the White Sox :suomi:, and now we're 1-1 and it still takes someone 3 more wins to advance.

I lost this game because of this, HOWEVER it doesn't mean I would not have lost anyway in extra innings so I can look at this objectively.

WHY would you EVER think to tag the guy out? You only need to tag them if you drop it. If it never enters your mind because you didn't drop it in the first place, why would you take him? YOU WOULDN'T.

Hell, the umpire called strike three, that's not the issue, we all know the guy struckout. BUT he also signalled that the batter was out. You can see it in the reply. Strike three, catcher rolls ball out AS umpire signals OUT, entire defense is running towards dugout then runner takes off.

The umpire called the guy out. You can see him make a fist in the replay.

So is he out, or is he just kinda out and you changed your mind? And if he changed his mind, what made him change it and at what point did this happen?

I know it's only a couple of seconds, but I don't see how he suddenly decided to allow the guy to run on the "drop" that he obviously didn't even see (drop or no drop) AFTER the catcher had already let go of the ball...

I'm mostly irritated that the umpire would make a call like that in a playoff game. The money is really not an issue as sports betting has no bearing (hopefully, geez) on the umpire's decision making during a baseball game.

It's the third out of the ninth inning in a tie game for crying out loud.

Shortbus, the umpire's fist didn't mean that he called him out. It was a bad call, but let it go now. Crede was safe at 2nd when they doubled him up, so it goes both ways. Might not have ever made it to the bottom of the ninth if that call at second would have been correct.
