261 TDs with 199 Ints???
81.5 career efficiency rating???

This does not take into account how many turnovers this guy had from fumbles. I believe he is the all time fumble leader in NFL history (no joke).

He was terrible. Of course he will have a lot of completions, attempts, and yards...that comes with being in the league for so long as a starter. Longevity doesn't mean he should be a Hall of Famer.

It would be a tragedy to let this guy anywhere near the Hall.

no chance...he was the fumble king.

He was a very good player, he was also very streaky...very solid career.

For crying out loud, Ken Stabler isn't even in the HOF...Krieg, no chance.

Stats in the NFL , particularly career stats are not as significant, wen judging a career, with rule changes, all the great players before the mid 80's are usually left off the lists...yardage numbers are grossly out of balance.

particularly the 1970's era, the passing stats are not comparable because of rule changes. 50% and slightly above was a good completion percentage in that time period.

With all the speed in the secondary in today's game no one would ever complete a pass down field if they had the 1970's rules...

The only way Dave Krieg gets into the hall of fame is by buying a ticket and standing in line.

81.5 career efficiency rating!!!

I don't think you guys are understanding just how terrible that is. This guy was a walking turnover. That doesn't even account for all those fumbles.

there is absolutly NO WAY Dave Kreig goes to the hall

over Joey T???
Phil ( I wish I could have played in both SBs) Simms?
I would put Hostetler in before him

Mark Rypien?
Doug williams?

Yes all Skins but also have a super bowl MVP

How about Jim Zorn? who I actually believe should be in
Dave kreig was a great backup...period

how about Vinny...another couple years and he will pass all the yardage records...Does he deserve to be in?? LOL

Krieg played in a dome with great weather in conference road games for most part. Had 5-6 period where he was dynamite with Largent and Curt Warner.

When an NFL QB is hot, he's hot. I think Krieg's heat was about as intense as it gets and that includes the peerless Marino. Krieg would hit 10 straight passes with 7 of those were over 15 yards beyond the line of srimmage( the deep fade to Largent and then Largent abusing the DB on a double move to the post)--unlike Ken Anderson (not bashing just stating fact ) whose record for consecutive completions at the time hit mostly 5-8 yard passes, taking what the D gave him.

This thread just goes to show that football stats are not nearly as important and telling as baseball stats. Football is such a team team it is very hard to vote players in the HOF. I can name a dozen players off the top of my head in Canton that would not even dream of being in the HOF if not for the fact that they played for Pittsburg, Dallas etc........

Look at people like Archie Manning. Whos to say if he would have been drafted by Oakland that season insteed of the Saints. I bet he would be in there. The list goes on and on.
