Of football, baseball, basketball and hockey - if you took the top DI college team, and the top professional team and matched them head-to-head, which sport would provide the most competitive game.
I'm not looking for any specific matchups here (i.e., New England vs USC)...I am looking for a more general answer. In any given year, in which sport is there the largest and smallest gap in talent, or in the way the game is played.
Without thinking this through, my first reaction is to suggest football would provide us w/ the biggest blowout. Basketball would be the most competitive, but even then I don't believe games would be close the majority of the time. I also want to believe hockey would be competitive, but I don't follow the sport enough to offer an educated opinion.
