Just got an email today from Party poker saying that I recieved a 100 buck bonus and that it was already deposited into my account.

I was very surprised as I have not played there for over a year. So I came home and logged in and there was my account with 100 bucks in it. I did not have to deposit any money or anything. I have to play 1500 raked hands before 30-NOV-2005 EST to cash that out but all profits I make are mine.

Pretty cool of them.

Anyone else get this bonus? Just wondering why they sent it to me.

Because you haven't played there in a year ! You'll have to play a lot of hours ( 10+ ?) to collect it , and play at the lowest limit possible, or you'll bust out. You'll need to play .25/.50, at least to start. That's like a 100% bonus with a 30X rollover in some ways.

Wonder how long 1500 hands takes? If it is 10 hours that is nothing. I can easily play that in a day or 2.

I am not really worried about the money just thought it was a cool bonus. Also, most bonus's require you to deposit money. I am getting to play for free without having to do anything.

150 hands an hour is unrealistic, maybe 75/hour, but then some won't get raked, I'll guess 30 hours to get there. You can track it under cashier, then bonus acct.

When I turn this 100 into 10k, I won't have to worry about the 100 buck bonus. I am almost there. I only got $9983 to go.

Schouest,

I only played 10-20 L there for 2 months. I really only now play in live games b/c I found myself playing online everyday.

It sucked the life out of me. Hard to do when you work full time and go to grad school full time at night.

I got one recently, after about a month out. 30 %, I think max was $100, but the more you got the more hands required. I sent $100, need 210 hands, but only was given about a week, a few days left, need about 30 more hands.

I played about 100 raked hands at .50/1.00, then went 1/2, now working the 2/4 badbeat jackpot game, have about $120.

I'm sure most people overplay that $100, and very few cash ! It's too many hands if you play above lowest minimum.

You could multi table 120/hr @ 2 tables or push 3 tables for 180/hr.

I play alot there so playing 3 isn't too hard especially if you're playing a mechanical game like low limit. Of course you can't have a 15 inch monitor and try that. Would suggest 1024x768 for screen rez. As long as you understand the game well, shouldn't be too hard.

DougJ,

I am playing the 50 buck NL game (.25 -.50). I am not investing a single cent on this site.

If I lose no worries it was for free anyway. It like getting a free hundered to screw around.

Probably what most people do. I'm not Joe expert on collecting poker bonuses, with sports I know what to do to maximize bonuses !

I've played poker for decades, but not at a great level. I only recently started playing hold'em online, used to only play 7-stud in casinos. I usually play 1/2 through 3/6, rarely lower ( why bother ?). 5/10 is pretty serious for me, 10/20 is my max. I'm pretty green with NL, as well.

I could be very wrong , but those are my thoughts on how to get the bonus... basically drop to lowest (boring) game, watch a movie, balance the checkbook, read a magazine, etc. with the game being played as a background activity, waiting for the laptop to beep at you. That's my new method of accumulating raked hands.

It's a sloppy mechanical game, but I'm not going to pay rapt attention to .50/1 game.

I'd like to know how many get the bonus of $100, with 1500 hands needed. I guess under 5%, but 50% + probably could if they were decent players slumming the bottom games, but then it don't pay much !

A wise promo by PP because so few will cash it, IMO, plus the action promotes rake. A win/win deal for PP ! Smart marketing.

I think the best way to play to get the most raked hands is playing Omaha Hi lo. Bigger pots almost guarantees a rake each hand if you know how to play the game.

I don't know the game well enough to play it, I just know the rules. That game would require a whole lot of study, I'm still reading the books on hold'em.

Doug got into a phase of playing a lot of online Hold'em to the point of obsession, then he backed off. He won a bit, but it took him too much time.

I now pop in and wait for the button, maybe play around the table twice, then bop out.

The jackpot ( about 500k now) entices me. Quad 8's can lose. I hate using the term " it's due".

Online poker is as addictive as VP is to many Vegans, even more so, as you're playing a skill game, not Fish's 100% mechanical advantage game of beating VP. There's strategy to online real poker which is absent in VP, unless the strategy is getting the most comps, and finding the beatable ( in theory) VP games !

Once you find the machine with the ultra-high progressive jackpot, or friendly pay-table, whatever you do thereafter is either mathematically correct, or it isn't !

Real poker has more levels... tells, etc.... even online !

Party Poker is one of the top five biggest online poker rooms on the net. They give away so much money because they make so much money daily from the people who deposit.

You should just create a new account and then lose that $100 to your other account.
