Scoring through the roof, and will continue to be. Every accomplishment prior to this season will be run over by those in the "new and improved" NHL that is geared towards the scoring addicted American fans.

Sad but true.

Why does everyone have to say American when they complain about NHL stuff?

Because the cold, hard truth is that the NHL needs to appeal to the American audience (and networks). What would the NHL be without American teams, fans & viewers?

Small, really small.

exactly right Tinco, yet when MOST people say something about Americans re: hockey it tends to be negative and my point is there is no NHL without us Americans...

Just like MLB and the home runs after the baseball strike.

T, you just told me two days ago scoring was headed south?

That was actually in relation to the value of the overs being diminished since books quickly kicked the totals up to 7. As it's turning out, 7 may actually not be high enough for many games (but damn it's tough to take an over that high). Oh yeah, that was aso the night that I was 0-3 on my over RR parlays.

I don't think so. The scoring is more a result of re-inforcing the existing old rules that were in effect in the 80's when all those records were put up in the first place!!!

What rule CHANGE is going to have a big effect on scoring TTinCO?

The new goalie not going in the corner limitation?

This is hockey and how it should be played.

Skating ... playing making ... which leads to scoring chances and goals!

Now there are goals off the rush, and from the fore-check.

The previous decade was not really hockey, but hockey/wrestling. Like 80% of the goals were from the dump & chase game of the past.

The NHL wants to expand into the USA more because they are greedy, the owners and player are greedy.

The NHL will survive with 21 to 24 teams, and even more Canadian teams too under a smaller league.

A lot of players today really aren't skilled.

Goalies too, some don't look so good with the smaller equipment.

Doesn't matter who is watching, the league must keep them playing this way. If a few francises go belly up, who cares?! As long as the product is good. Right now it is diluted a bit, but looks good after a full decade of looking like crap.
