Well, I have won some big tournaments online. I finished second in one tournament that paid $12,000 and then I finished third in another that paid $5700 for third. Having said that, I MAKE a ton more in live tournaments and in live ring games.

I have actually stopped playing ring NL games on the net altogether and just play live NL games.

Too much collusion on the net for me as well as VERY shady software. I am confident that there are "site robots" in many of the tournaments. SO I have stopped playing in that many tournaments online.

Just last month I won $12500 first place in a live tournament in Louisiana and I have won that tournament 2 times and finished second once in just 4 attempts. That right there told me to stay away from the net and just play in live tournaments.

Lately, I have started to play a little online again but all I can do now is waste my winnings from baseball. I am up HUGGGGEEEE with these baseball playoffs. But I am giving back a little in poker.

By the way, the books MUST be suffering through the baseball playoffs! I am one of the biggest hot straks in my life and if the Astros win the NLDS I will win a future bet.

Also, IFFFFFFF the Astros can win the world series then I will get $8,000 for that!

Tell me that you see the inherent inconsistency in these 2 paragraphs? You have finished very high in some big tournaments that made you thousands and yet there are bots cheating you? If so, these bots are pretty bad.

As a whole online poker is very safe. The rake is also less than in live games. As long as you play at the big time sites there is nothing to fear. If you try out a startup fly by night pokerroom and get ripped off you are as much to blame as people that still sign up at ESB.

Blue, did you once play and then said forget it, or have you never sat down at a virtual poker table?

played online at a few places...the bad beats occured too frequently and at the most crucial times. i know bad beats are a part of the game but, the frequency was way too high imo.

maybe its all legit but, the seeds of doubt were planted and it was enough for me to say screw it.

I pretty much play in tourneys if I do play. Every once and a blue moon I may play with a couple of dollars and I mean literally a couple of dollars to see how much I can run it up. Overall, too many weird things happens in ring games for me to consistently play there and play with any "real" amount of money. It's all about the rake baby!

Well myself my opinion of online poker has taken a complete 360 since ive started playing "live" tournys...with winter on the way im trying to get a schedule together where ill be playing a live tourny at least 5 days a week...im already up to 4.

Online is MUCH tougher mainly due to the number of players AND not being able to tell a thing about who your in the hand with,,,is he a pro who wuill see he's beat and fold to your big raise? are is he a sportsbettor with thousands in his account who isnt laying down his hand no matter what you do? in a "live" tourny i may make the final table by winning 4-6 coin flips...in an online tourny its 10+.....and the bad beats??? the weird cards??? im seeing them live just like online, differance is as said already you see 3 times as many hands per hr online........when i play my tight as oprahs waistband game live im almost guaranteed the final table ..online ill blind out everytime...you have to win coin flips and steal pots to win online, and since you cannot know who your playing against its just not that easy to do...especially in any tourny with a less than $100 buy-in...the players are just too bad, they cant see when they have only 2 outs or are a 95% dog....and when 1 of those 2 outs hit or the 5% wins its killer....i had planned to make a living this winter playing online, my plans have changed.....ill be playing live tournys 1st and online 2nd..hopefully getting a big enough bankroll to play +$ 100 buy-ins only....its the only way to go for me, a player without a large bankroll...

Well those tournaments are few and far between. The tournaments have put me well up for the whole, but I normally do MUCH better in live action than I do online.

As for a lower rake online, not so sure about that! The MAXIMUM rake in live action is $5, even in the 20/40 game. There is no maximum rake online i dont believe.

We had a nolimit pot last night that I was in that was a $1700 and the rake was only $5
